Good Grouse Camp for Young Dog
Hi There,
Would anyone have any recommendations for a fishing/hunt camp that I can stay at this fall in search of Grouse? I'm thinking anywhere north of the Sudbury/North Bay line; Temagami region for example. I have a young dog that I would like to get exposed to as many wild birds as I can.
Any additional tips would be great (time of year, what to look for, tips for a young dog etc).
Please feel free to PM me, wouldn't want the entire form joining me on my vacation
Thanks!

I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Tip, I find the best time to go is after the leafs fall off the trees because it makes for better shooting. Also time the trip if you can after the local moose hunt. Best bet is to look up outfitters in the area you’re interested in and ask them about renting a cabin. Most will do this after the big game seasons are over at a discount rate.

If I'm not mistaken the gun season for Moose in Temagami for example is mid October to mid November. If I were to head up in the first two weeks of October, would the foliage still be too thick for decent hunting?

Early October is good and you can see a long ways into the woods.
