To be fair, this is probably the best outcome. As a former cat owner, I encourage the hose routine first. If my neighbour hosed my cat to get the point across, I would not be mad. Cats are persistent and sometimes it takes more than their person to step in to discourage bad behaviour. If the cat is out loose, also in all fairness, it is coyote bait. If you caught it safely in a live trap and relocated it to a shelter, that might be the better option. Orrrr...if she cares about her cat that much, she could keep it inside. As she seems to be doing.

If you manage to catch it in the live trap, send it home with some distinct markings. Shave a strip off of it if it's tame enough or hit it with some orange marking paint. Give it a day and then try to have a conversation with the owner. Let her know next time, kitty goes to the "shelter".

Has too much time on their hands
I would like to see the FWCA amended to make it a crime to turn a cat out a night in an effort to prevent cat predation of wildlife. I believe OOD actually did a story about that a few years ago if I am not mistaken. I know most cities have bi laws about pets running at large but if the FWCA was amended, it would make it province wide.

Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

Just move a trap to the front of the property so she can keep it in the back of her mind.
someone else has made a comment about the laws of animals running at large, from what I can remember Mississauga and Oakville had it for Dogs but not for Cats.
The woman doesnt have much of a mind, she's a cat lover? I just came back to the cabin tonight, checked the cams, and sure enough, there's the cat again? It's illegal to hurt the cat, so the trap has been re-baited and we'll just wait n see? It's no use talking to her again, it's like talking to a rotten stump? Her husband, who I was friendly with before this crap started, has just slinked back in the corner, afraid to say or do anything?
Ah well, one morning it'll be in the trap and that's the last time I'll worry about it. It'll go to a nice new home.

I'm not really sure what you're implying? I asked one question about the legalese of the cat situation and have rec'd several answers? The rest of the posts have been kindly suggestions to the situation. I'm finding it to be a bit entertaining, as I think others may also?

I'm enjoying it too, maybe it's just my computer, but there's a question mark at the end of every sentence and my mind reads every sentence as a question? No offence to be taken, just playin' around. If you'd like, you could borrow my buddy's sheppard for a weekend.......he "loves" cats
