How many of you use face camo paint?

I'll start off by saying that overall I really like the OFHA magazine. There is always lots of interesting stuff in the magazine. In this latest issue however (fall 2018), they did a face paint article "Face Value". I appreciate that the author pointed out that having a face cover, breaking up the shape of your face and cutting glare is a good idea - no argument. He then goes on to show a bunch of ridiculous face paint patterns and "evaluates" them. There are a bunch of issues here, but it all culminates in an "editors pick" to go "full commando". ...

I have a few camo insulated undershirts with hood and 3/4 mask built into it. They are nice I wear it waterfowl/turkey and bow hunting. I have never used face paint

This is the first year in gonna give the face paint a try....i find my face mask really starts to stink after a few hunts �� picked up face paint on Amazon for $10

I'm a big fan of face paint but I mostly just use the black and some of the brown and green, basically enough to break up the white face glow. With a mask especially in the cold with my white camo I find my glasses always fog up and if I have a hood up as well then when I turn my head the mask doesn't always turn the same and my vision is compromised. Cleanup after is easy and doesn't bother me at all.

Another vote for burnt cork, works great and way easier to remove plus it's cheap (and the bonus is you get drunk acquiring it )

Mask's make it too hard to operate a duck/goose call plus they are always in the way.

I used lots in the army but for hunting I prefer a mask etc. That way when I'm on the way home I can just throw on a regular jacket and go shopping for groceries or beer without looking strange!

+1 on burnt cork. Easy on, easy off, it's flat, so cuts down on any sheen. Plus if you like single malt...you get a convenient plastic holder/handle....

Another +1 on the burnt cork. Have one of those small packets of baby wipes after the hunt and it comes right off. Breaks up your facial profile and takes some of the glare off the water as well. Masks for me get in the way of calling.

People are attuned to human faces and we see them even when they aren't there. Animals, not so much. So that's the basic flaw.

For face camo it's sufficient to just darken that skin tone, which stands out like a sore thumb.
