73hunter yes I would agree with you. Now that I am interest in the tree hunting I now know of other spots I would like to place a couple more. I did buy one and after adding a couple more ratchet straps I feel comfortable, but I would like to have more standing room. I have several ideas some that include making my own with the same materials or as you have said wood.

I'm a fan of the double ladder stands. They give lots of room to stretch for long sits and usually have a decent platform for standing. The only downside is they are cumbersome to move and storage can be an issue if you take them down after hunting season.

If you are going to get a climber, in the late season, make sure you strip down to be "uncomfortably cold" before you start climbing. If you don't, holy cow do you get hot. I learned the hard way when I was running a bit late to be up the tree with my climber last fall, and hurried to get out there. Halfway out realized I forgot my bolts back at the house. had to then rush back, get those, carry the climber out, and up a tree (all before legal) I usually like to get out an hour before. I cut it too close (30 mins before legal) Then once up, spent the first 15 mins of that stripping off clothing as I was WAY too hot. Once my body started to cool down, I got more comfortable. But nothing worse than getting too hot sweating, then getting too cold after.
