I would say that I see deer on 90% of my hunts before nov 15 and 50% after. Haven’t figured out why the drop off yet. Hunting on a good property in 87 with great bedding and agriculture.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will squander all his earnings, relationships and free time.

I'm fairly sure that if I go squirrel hunting I won't see anything but deer.

I try to go in with the mindset I will see one every time, however I am about 1 for every 4 sits I will see one (or more deer). I have been out for 3 evening sits so far and have yet to see a deer..however lots of sign around and previous years success keeps me motivated. Also, having a young family, if its brown and presents a clean shot, its down no matter the time of year.

I'm getting a bit antsy to get out but in reality the best hunting time is not here yet. I wish I would have saved more vacation time...lol

This years first week of November controlled hunt should be dynamite!

This is a refreshing thread as my "meager little patch" hasn't yielded any sightings yet. Even the trail cam hasn't seen a deer since late July and even then it was a Doe that gets a pass. The nearby soy fields have been stripped now but they weren't any big draw anyway.

I am along the same lines as this. Hunt a property in 90b where there may have been once or twice in the past 3 years that I have not seen deer before November shotgun week. Have been out 3 times so far this year with sightings of 1, 4 and 6 deer. However after shotgun week the deer disappear until spring. The actual property I hunt as well as an adjacent property(roughly 250 acres total) do not get hunted on during either shotgun week.

Me too! Less deer and a lot less daytime movement after the first gun hunt. AND the bucks well..... they vaporize during daylight hours! I'm hunting crown land primarily. If I see 5 deer in a whole season that's a good year (for the last 3 years). Prior to the hard winters of 2013-14 and 2014-15 I did see deer on half my sits. I'm seeing a lot more deer this year and even a doe with triplets.
