Im hunting deer in the Lindsay area for the first time and was wondering how is the deer population in the area? Are there good sized bucks? I usually hunt wmu 49 but its been tough the past few years, having to move locations. Any insight would help!

I'm in the northern part of 75 and wish I could tell you some good news.

This year deer activity has dropped significantly, down to only a couple deer on camera from a healthy amount just last year.

Coyote numbers seem to be up but not sure if that's 100% the cause for the decline or just a couple tough winter's.

For the bucks, I've had a couple decent sized ones on camera but nothing like SW Ontario. I also hunt in 82a and deer in 75 are much smaller, buck and does.

Not sure why but I had a couple one antler bucks on my property last year and what looks to be an antlered doe. I'm only guessing it's a doe since there has been a fawn next to her all summer. Last pic I have of her was end of October and still had velvet.

Hope this helps, I'd be interested in what others have to say.

We hunt in 75 (northern part) and we too believe the coyote numbers are out of hand. Our gang saw deer being chased by coyotes in full day light on 3 separate occasions. Our trail cameras show very few fawns. Extending the ban for wolves/coyotes to more areas was a very bad idea.
