Would there be any interest in having a womens hunter category on the forum? I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but perhaps it would be of benefit to have to get more female hunters more involved and hopefully connect with each other and become more confident and inspired.
    Just a thought

The present situation here in Ontario from my experience is that women hunters are a bit of a sham. They have been encouraged to get a license to "game" the
tag system and allow the boyfriends/husbands to take more game on their tags.

I am not saying ALL the women involved do not hunt but I would say the majority do not hunt.

I suppose to test the veracity of this claim we could ask the MNR how many female hunters are checked afield each year?

Gilroy, you cantankerous old coot! That's a hellava thing to say to a woman asking a legitimate question, on a legitimate hunting forum? Now apologise or go to your room!
I personally know three wives of friends that actively hunt deer each year. One of the gals harvested a beauty 10 pt last week. That same gal shot 2 the year before, using up her hubby's tag and he couldn't go bow hunting the rest of the season, much to his chagrin. Lots of women hunt. You need to get out more?

I suppose the response to the thread will indicate which way the wind is blowing. If you have not come across husbands, boyfriends using their better half to game the system then I might suggest you get out a little more often.I personally know several women who hunt here and out of Province but I know a much
bigger number who have licenses and never hunt and get them for the tag draw only.So no apologies for stating a fact on a legitimate hunting forum.

You sound like the guy who ran our old camp, to him a woman's place was in the kitchen, except that he would have lost everything if it were not for his wife.

My wife is the one who hauls my butt out of bed to go ice fishing in the crappy weather, before our daughter we were out fishing constantly. I taught her every gun action before her course and she proceeded to teach the rest of the class. She does not have a ton of arm strength so a 28in barrel 12ga is a bit much but the SKS and 30-30 bolt action work quite well for her.

This type of attitude is a problem, yes I know that what you said happens, but this is in the process of changing, don't stop that.

Gilroy is right....there are a lot of wives /GF tags at camps and the ladies don't even know where the camp is. I know that for a FACT !!

Last week we had 9 tags and 7 hunters......two tags belonged to wives. Other camps are the same, locals have been doing it for years.

Meet a women who was part owner of a Moose Hunt Camp who has tagged on more than a few over the years, but she has never been there for the hunt.

These days, there are more and more husbands and boyfriends being caught at gaming the system, as when a C.O. checks out the game and finds some ones tag on it who is not there, there are many questions asked and thoroughly checked out.

I agree it does happen, illegal, as we all know, but it does happen. Having said that however, I think the OP's question to the forum was the viability of having a "womens" section or category in the forum. Personally, I don't think it would add much, or entice women to partake? With the anonymity of our user names, women can delve into the fray anytime?

With the ask turning out like this why would any of them join this forum, wasted opportunity.
