I recently took over 100 acres of prime Norfolk County and have been posting with signs and red dots for the same reason. No survey was done but I'm following the old fence line to keep it legal.
Don’t put to much stock in old fence lines. After the fiasco we went through over a 2 year period it gave us food for thought and it wasn’t even our land. I’ll never purchase any property without a recent survey period.
We got permission on a 50acre property, 1 day we went in to do some prep and there was skidders that had logged into the back of the property. We informed owner and he had no idea. The neighbouring property was recently sold and the new owner was logging it. To see the old existing fence lines (I’m talking rock walls) you would never believe the properties boundaries were where they ended up being. Everything was out of whack. 1 of our stands was off property by 15yds when it was supposed to be nowhere near line by existing fences. One guys house was on the property owner we had permission from and he had lived there for 30 years. Multiple surveys, lawyers etc it was a mess. Our guy said it would cost him more in lawyers fees then the property was worth so he let it go as a good will gesture to the guy with the house. That guy became emboldened and was still trying to get more. He is a dick. He gave us permission to stay, waited until we replanted our plots and set the stands and then said he recinded his permission so his extended family could hunt there (he just wanted us to do all the work and setup and pay for everything). We said that’s unfortunate you feel that way we’ll need you to unlock the gate when your available so we can remove our cameras and stands and then the real kicker he said “all that stuffs on my property and belongs to me now”
We rode in on the loggers road from the back with a trailer and removed our stuff.
Lesson learned about properties.
My friend was forced to cancel the hunt because that guy was a deceitful prick and waited until the season was almost open after everything was set (with his permission) before taking permission away. Way to short notice to try and figure out alternate for other guys in group. I wasn’t hunting with them just helping out with setup for the old timers.

I have had the opposite experience,I had my property lines run informally some 18 years ago.The guy running the lines worked for the MNR and did it the old fashioned way with compass and steel cable.He basically told me he would run the line 30feet short for my side.This proved to be right on when we came to the west side and were on the short side for the existing OLD STONE walls/fence line.
That neighbours property was run this year for cutting over the 500 acres.The man doing the cut ran the lines and went right off the existing stone wall. This
gave me back my original 30 feet.Now none of this had been run with a brand new survey,its simply not worth doing on such big properties,but even on the new GIS mapping systems, the old stone walls are bang on.Surveyors back when they did these lots initially in the 18 hundred,s did make mistakes (drunk mostly), the north to south lines in my township do not match up with the north to south lines in the neighbouring township,this variation could led to mistakes
if a surveyor takes a stake and runs it from that neighbouring township.
By and large the old walls I feel are pretty accurate, in the event of a dispute I would sit back and let the neighbour pay to do a survey,if I was not happy with the result I might employ my own surveyor,but in most cases its not worth it for a piece of old bush.

I would bring all the gear to the OPP and tell them that this was on my property. If someone comes for it I want them charged for trespassing, as long as you are sure it is on your property. By the sounds of it you know and you know it isn't the neighbours. Now if there is no standing fence, orchard, or field they crossed and not posted, you will never get them charged, but then they know and can be charged next time. I would post it now. Rick is right this is a lot of money for trespassers to just put up.

Anyways two soft blinds two chairs two trail cams two corn feeders one tree stand
Gut pile at my buddy’s tree stand that is easily 400’ in my property
Wind was strong stuff blowing away like crazy
My property is bush neighbour side is soybean ground. Line is easy to see. Neighbour doesn’t hunt I have permission to hunt theirs

Earlier facts stated it's been there awhile. Not moved to you property to hide the evidence and continue to feed the deer. .
