Bad news for deer in Ontario

the CWD prion can get into soil, if you burn the soil at the game farm, you cant get rid of it...many states in the USA have battled CWD and its here to stay. If a migratory bird coming from the USA poops somewhere in Ontario after it crossed one of the great lakes and a deer comes into contact, the deer may contract CWD. These prions can get into the roots of plants and then spread when other animals eat them, etc, etc. Pretty scary info on this topic.

There are also a few podcasts about CWD I encourage you to give a listen, some controversial viewpoints on the subject (Ted Nugent on the Joe Rogan Experience, I believe Steve Rinella did one as well on Meat Eater)

One other theory about CWD and wildlife agencies willing to react quickly with a "cull" to prevent CWD is that these agencies are working with insurance companies to thin the herd under the guise of CWD..you get the drift... what they aren't saying is some deer in a herd die from it and some seem to be resilient to CWD (otherwise states like Colorado would have no deer left as they have had CWD since the 1970's)

Not trying to stir the pot but I am certainly questioning the quick and heavy handed reaction in Quebec..would hate to see that implemented by our MNRF..

Like I said somewhere before, get rid of the game farms and fish farms, nothing but a disaster waiting to happen if it hasn't already.

Ontario Deploys Additional Crews to Address Chronic Wasting Disease
October 4, 2018
Ontario's Government for the People is enhancing surveillance measures to protect wildlife from the risk of chronic wasting disease. This comes following a confirmed case of the disease in Quebec.
"We are taking immediate action to protect the health of deer in Ontario. Planned surveillance is already underway in southwestern Ontario and we are adding to current efforts by deploying additional surveillance teams near the Quebec border," said Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, Jeff Yurek.
"Chronic wasting disease has never been detected in wild deer in Ontario and we want to keep it that way. We are mobilizing additional teams to test deer for the disease and adding new public drop off locations east of Ottawa to the Quebec border. I urge hunters to take advantage of this convenient way to participate in protecting Ontario's wildlife," Yurek encouraged.
Chronic wasting disease is a progressive, fatal disease of the nervous system of deer, elk, moose and caribou. To date, there have been no confirmed cases of the disease in any wild animal in Ontario.

I was at The Bow Shop AKA Shooter's Choice today and they will test any deer coming from the imediate area WMU 80 to 87 ect ..... contact them for proper imfo .

I was just talking to someone in Brampton near Mayfield and Kennedy and he says there is a deer laying on one of the side streets with animal control an police there. "I walked down and it didn't look hurt but it couldn't get up and was tired now and just laying there"

Apparently it was laying in someones front yard, no sign of a car that hit it or other injury but it couldn't stand up and after trying for a bit just lay there too tired to even try again. Maybe hit? Maybe sick? But they shot it twice right in the front yard of the house in the Stonegate area.

Go onto "Google " type in , "Buy Venison in Ontario " you will get a long list of where to buy venison.
Apparently , there are quite a few Wild Game Farms in Ontario.
The CFIA had better get off their collective butts and start checking/monitoring these game farms more closely.
