    Default Snow update

    Hi guys,
was wondering if someone who lives in the Dundalk area could give me an update on the amount of snow you got there in the last two days. Can fields be accessed with a truck or is the snow too deep?
    Thanks in advance.

On Saturday I drove a front wheel drive into a field with no problems. By the time you read this I expect a lot more snow will be on the ground.

There are large variations even over distances as short as a mile. Don't know what has fallen since this morning but around 11ish am today I drove throw a bunch of fields in the area checking sign and there was 2 to 6 inches. Heavy wet stuff with a crust on top. You will need 4x4 with good tires but should be fine. If no hills and good tires with good weight distribution you could even get away with 2wd if you are careful. I run brand new 33 inch Duratracs on the truck every winter and they seem to do the job pretty well for both mud and snow. There was the odd spot where I broke through into mud but mostly stayed on top without punching through.

One caveat - squalls in the forecast could be 6 inches could be nothing - won't know for a few more days.

It hasn't stopped snowing since noon today. People are starting to blow driveways so it is piling up. The ground isn't frozen so the snow is melting underneath which produces a layer of mud just under the snow. I think we're in for15-20 cm tonight in Markdale.

I live west of there but the whole area is getting more snow with strong winds. Yesterday I blew out our driveway with the tractor. The snow was very wet. We have around 20 cm of snow on the ground so far.
