I will never use buckshot. I’ve seen the wounded unrecovered deer, not to mention the meat loss due to shot damage. If someone keeps their shots to 30 yds, which most do not, a clean kill is pretty much assured. However, meat loss for me is a big concern.

I'm know this will tick off some people but that's my opinion on ethical hunting.

Why shouldn't one shoot at running deer? I've shot running deer with both shotgun and rifle. I don't understand what your talking about, explain please?

Does every single bow hunter in Ontario keep his shot in range?

At our hunt camp we have 5 'doggers', pushing deer towards 10,-12 'standers', all deer shot , are running. Even those shot by the 'doggers'.

Again SINGLE PROJECTILE. Not a bunch of smaller ones with way less energy. Not to mention no 2 buckshot loads will pattern the same. Not into maybes or playing a guessing game. Clean kills!

Ok, so grab a box of slugs that you have never shot and go out as if you will hit the deer with every shot, this is what you are assuming the buckshot shooting is doing, hear how stupid it sounds?

ANY ROUND CAN AND WILL WORK EFFICIENTLY IF USED WITHIN IT'S PROPER APPLICATION.

You do not use a hammer to put in a screw, you do not use buckshot for 100 shots but yes there are a couple idiots who will use a hammer to put in screws.

Jaycee has 9+ pages going because of a lie, no way would a guy running a combine who has to stop to pull a deer out of a field and autopsy it to determine if it was buckshot, a car, crossbow, compounds bow, what broadhead used, etc, this story is garbage.

Where do you get me having 9 pages, out of my 5 posts to your multiples ???, boy, do you ever have a problem when even someone else other than I disagrees with what you think you know , there must be something in the water in eastern On.

Again, ??? why would he make up stories and lie ??? , what would he have to gain by doing so?
He has been around for many years and sees this quite often, he is not noted to be a bull shipper as some on here that know it all with their limited experience.
Buckshot wounds are quite easily determined, single small festering holes.
If hit by a vehicle , massive bruising and broken bones.
A cross bow bolt , or arrow wound is also easily determined.
The only garbage here comes from your limited knowledge.
Would you want to say this is garbage , face to face with this man, we can arrange it .

I know my gun. I know where my bullet is going.i pick my shots and will not take risks. I guess I'm too ethical for some around here. You know as well as I do how many deer are wounded because of it. Sure deer are wounded by slugs/rifles. Odds are much higher in recovering them. Always a better blood trail. Many assume a clean miss with buckshot. This seldom happens. It seems I find pellets in every 2nd or 3rd deer I butcher.

C'mon ice......keep building. We need more ice fishing stories and pics and less Dr farmers doing autopsies and 3rd party stories. The Hunters bashing hunters program is working well. I missed 7 deer this year with buckshot, but it doesn't count, cause' I shoot from the hip, it feels way cooler.
    This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......

    Fox,

The problem as I see it is that Jaycee actually believes the story and will print it as factual, just like he believes 00Buck is a good back up round for killing a wounded African Lion, because its on some African Safaris web sites. The same info is available on other websites that hunting a wounded African Lion with 00 Buck is a very bad idea. But that is not going to change his mind,so on one hand he is mad at hunters using 00 Buck on small Whitailed Deer, but thinks is perfectly normal to use it to finish of a wounded and very dangerous African Lion.Talk about common sense going out the window.
