    Default Sighting In 22-250

Hey guys need to resight my gun used for coyotes. Mostly used for calling but we do push as well. What would you zero at? 100 yds? Thanks.

I have changed the way I sight in my guns, I look more at the type of game being hunted and adjust based on the kill zone of the animal, this is referred to as Maximum Point Blank Range (MPBR).

I just worked up a load for the 222 Rem, the gun is zeroed at 215 yards which will give me an impact no higher than 2in above or below the cross hairs out to 250 yards. Your 22-250 depending on your load should push this out a bit further, you can use Hornady's ballistic calculator if you know the velocity and BC of the bullet and play with your zero's to see then test on the range.

The reason for this is that I now only need to know where 250 yards is within the field, if the animal spooks and runs I can still hold dead on and shoot as it moves away with no fear of needing to hold over.

If you set it @ 1" high @100M,you should be able to hold dead on out to 250M using Kentucky windage technique when hunting in crappy weather.

    Agree 100%
Back in my Durham groundhog hunting days most of us used .243 with a zero of 1" high @ 100 yards, we had no hold over out to 250 as long as the wind would co-operate

True, you could, but if you sight it in 1.6in high at 100 yards, it will be 2in high at 150 yards and 3in low at 300 yards, gives you 50 yards more dead on hold essentially.

What scope did you get to have a good clear line of sight out to 200-300 yards looking to purchase a new gun in same caliber for coyote hunting myself.

It's an older.parker Hale 22-250. Bought it used with an older Bushnell scope. Always been pretty accurate. Definitely need.to upgrade scope eventually but will get me through another season.
