I agree. But instead of shaking our heads we need to figure out why some people come onto this forum almost on a daily basis and interject tribal politics into each and every post which then prompts a reply from the opposite side.

It is always the same group of 3-4 people. I have the feeling that they judge a persons worth and character , based on what party they vote for, and where they live.

Wow, is all I can say to this thread. I don't get my back up often but this one did it for some reason. Injecting politics into this is ridiculous and trying to quantify someone's service by Reg or Res Force is even more ridiculous. At some point or another they walked into an armouries or a recruiting centre and volunteered, you can now fish for free. I'll say thanks and carry on, because I for one haven't seen to many places giving veterans of any stature a lot of breaks. With all the silly things governments do with our money, you would think everyone of any political stripe would be on board with this one.

You two remind me of an old drooling hound dog waiting for a ham bone? The thread is dead, finito, kaput, go play bridge or something?

Post Number 10 is where Politics first came in. Wasn't the 3 or 4 people you were referencing.

GW , I was talking about generally not just this particular thread. You should know , because you are one of the 3 or 4, that I referenced. You find a way to take a jab at the libs every chance you get, even when it is a non-political thread.

Actually I find it is usually you and a few others. As I indicated about post 10.

I also notice most of your posts are to bash.

Ok Welsh, as both of us are former CF, let me take slight issue with that statement.

The definition of "Veteran" has been somewhat diminished over the years, insofar as, if you have completed your BMQ, you are qualified to be referred to under the system.

Unless I'm mistaken, this was due to the inability for candidates on course being able to claim benefits if injured while on said course, or some such matter.

The fact remains, is that every member, sworn and served, has written a blank cheque to the people of Canada, up to and including their life ( you've had this speech...I know).

Now whether it was a bin-rat in Borden for the bulk of the cold war, a toon at an armoury in Medecine Hat, or someone with 2 tours to the sandbox.....they all did their part, and answered the call.

Your post vis-a-vis the province having purview over housing and mental health services is an interesting one. However, the province hasn't sacrificed anything in those programs per-se, to provide this "gesture".

The province could in fact do something about housing. Of course, since the download in 2001 to municipalities, there remains a shortage of subsidized, and funded housing programs.

The province also could provide veterans with additional mental health support. However, if a vet is requiring support based on a service injury, then they are swiftly handed off to VAC, as the process can become an administrative burden to both services.

Again, providing a "gesture" as a way of thanks to members is a small bit of goodwill, and in the grand scheme of things why wouldn't it be regarded as just that?
