Haven't Wild Boar already been declared as varmints in Ontario? All we need to hunt them is a small game license should we encounter them in the field. I wouldn't hesitate to dump one. My next stop would be to Canadian Tire for a smoker.

My opinion is that we do NOT want these animals in Ontario. They are destructive and invasive. Asian carp on land IMHO
That's the point...they are NOT here but guys are wishing they were....just so they can hunt them.
Mike, I think you may be stretching things a bit and getting wound up over nothing. I don’t interpret any of these posts as people wanting wild boar running roughshod all over Ontario. I would like to try hunting them is all. If that is in Poland or Texas, what ever. I just wanted to say all the hype isn’t seeming to be backed up by reality. Your friends farm that is being apparently ravaged in Manitoba notwithstanding,I just see pretty much a “killer bees circa 1975” scenario for us up here in the North.
Having said that, the range maps in Europe sure show that they live pretty far north into Sweden, Finland, and Norway.

If you've read the study I posted in response to your thinking they weren't a problem in Eurasia..now you know the Wild Boar is a significant problem on both continents.
If you understand their potential problem and still not a worry that it could happen here, is very here is short sighted. Even the MNR understands this and have issued a 'shoot on sight'..treat them as vermin.
Why they allow Wild Boar farms in this country, knowing what CAN happen, is insane.

Ok, I didn’t read it. I really am kinda tired of you preaching to me about this. I think you need to relax. Perhaps have a lively debate at one of your Eastern ont breakfasts to get it out of your system.
Would imagine most who are pro boar are pretty much wishful dreaming as if there was any genuine desire they would be donating to boars unlimited, swine forever, or the wild pig society.
Wild boar have been farmed in Ontario since 1991 and if they haven't rampaged across the province by now don't see it happening any time soon.
As hunters do your part see a feral pig dispatch it....just make sure its not somebodies potbellied pig.
