I’ve never been much of a mineral or food plot or baiting, I’ve started using some minerals tho. I’m going to be using rack stackers minerals, most likely glory. Just keep in mind that you don’t need twenty of these, and it’s not always a guarantee. I started a sight up north and I get moose like every other day but only got a couple deer

Rock salt on hardwood stumps. The salt dissolves into the stump and creates a year round lick which attracts critters. Ive had some going for around a decade, and theres critters at them daily, even months after I last topped them up. Everything in the forest eventually shows up to check it out.

I refuse to give money to mineral lick companies. One of them (a Canadian based one I wont name) actually had a membership on this forum and was trying to peddle his wares. He made fun of hunters on this forum who shot does or small bucks, as they werent good enough for him. Thats not the attitude anyone should have regarding hunters, especially new hunters, and it really left me a sour taste in my mouth regarding mineral licks.

So rock salt. Its cheap, and it works just fine for attracting animals to your area.

Far better is a food plot though, and again I stay away from the big brands. Your local feed store will have what you need.
