Moose quota numbers
Has anyone noticed or can anyone tell me why the bull and cow tag quotas they have posted in the 2019 regulations for last year (2018 results) don’t match the 2018 quota numbers they printed in the regulations from last year. Let’s use 16b for example 2018 regs say 95 bull 133 cow for gun available but in the 2019 regs (2018 results) they have posted there were only 90 bull and 126 cow tags available ? Or am I missing something?

It depends on how many were taken the previous year.

But every other year they are identical I have the regs till 2014 and if you compare the quota from one year and then look at the next years regs where it shows the previous years quota and applications they all match as they should except this years. I don’t get it

I hear what you are saying. In WMU 19 the 2018 regs say the quotas are 126/86, and yet the 2019 regs report the 2018 quotas as being 120/82. Why the discrepancy? Typographical errors?

Delmer- I don’t understand why it is like that either you would think if it was a typo it would only be one or 2 areas not every area. I have looked back for the last 5 years and all numbers match as they should, I am just questioning witch one of the 2 sets of quota was it actually
Outdoor life-to my knowledge that 5% still comes from the total quota, correct me if I am wrong
Thanks

Bingo. In the table starting on page 70, which is the 2018 draw results, it looks like each quota number shown does not include the 5 % that went into the northern resident draw.

I bet somebody finally realized they'd overlooked the tags allocated to the northern draw for many years and decided to include them in 2019 for the first time. You're not supposed to be that observant, Benner!

Also , [fact ] 10 percent of the quota in some WMU's goes to Outfitters in that particular WMU.
This info comes direct from one of the MNRF biologists that determine the number of tags issued for the unit.
