Barely coherent numskulls yelling "no compromise" and "molon labe" are of little help to anyone. Even in countries with widespread bans of either handguns, assault rifles or both (e.g. UK and Australia) hunting rifles and shotguns remain widely accessible to the public.

Instead of threatening not to get involved I'd prefer that you promised.

Mass shootings and murder are already banned and it hasn't stopped them from happening. Criminals don't worry about bans. Surely a smart guy like you understands that...

The firearms used in most of the high-profile shootings in Canada were handguns or assault rifles that were restricted or fell just outside the restricted category. Banning assault rifles and handguns will be of little consequence to hunters as with a few exceptions most of the firearms are already "banned" for hunting. Even if future legislation captured a few non-restricted they could be easily replaced in the field with firearms better suited to the task.

Certain semi-automatic rifles are essentially identical to restricted rifles. For example, the Beretta Storm was restricted until the importer began bringing in slightly longer barrels. Other assault-style rifles are not restricted as they began coming into the country after the passing of the regulations that put specific rifles in the restricted or prohibited categories.
