I bought an oscillating tool from CTC not too long ago. First one burnt out after warrantee was up. While doing some drywall work in the basement I hit a hidden nail and snapped the linkage inside. The tool had about 10 minutes of time on it. Danged if I could find my receipt so I had to bite the bullet and fork out for a new one--again!
So, DO NOT LOSE YOUR RECEIPT.
If you take a picture of your receipt (make sure you have the code portion visible as well) and they will honour the pic as the receipt

If your purchase was paid by credit card at Can Tire, you don't need a receipt.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

All these "short lived"products end up in a landfill!!!!
Food for thought.
The future still SHOULD be green!
The dollar stores would be out of business in short order.
I always tell my wife: rather than driving to the dollar store, buying a product, using it once, having it break, then throwing it out, she should just throw the money in the garbage, saving a trip to the store and valuable landfill space.

Seen, and agree.
I know an individual who would buy Bog Rubber boots for his kids, in varying ages, from a store with a very good returns policy.
He would usually return them within a two year period, with a flaw or defect...and get a completely new pair, and re-set the cycle.
There are abusers everywhere, and not unlike people who think using Bankruptcy is a financial management tool....the people who actually pay the costs aren't the store, or the bank, but the consumers who actually don't try and manipulate the system.

Stuff like this happens more than most would think, and who pays for it in the end? as you said the consumers , you and I who don't abuse or manipulate the system.
Thank you for a clear line of thought!

Well that would put a serious dent in the boat traffic and importation from China. We can't send them canola, they can keep their garbage in China.

As long as you create an SP (stupid people) fee at the same time ..... for people who use the product outside the normal boundaries of the product, break it and then go back to the retailer expecting a refund or replacement!
