That’s good news. I guess I can move back to my productive old spot.

I'm up at bear camp right now. Getting in upgrades and prepping for the fall hunt. got almost 250 miles on the ATV. Great weather, some lakes still iced over, no bugs which is a blessing. lot's of wash outs but we manage. Not a leaf on and vision in the woods is at all time maximum. Sure nice to see what you're doing and knowing the surroundings rather then guessing when the leaves are on.
We've changed out barrels to new designs and removed any old stuff and it's going home where it came from. I got a cousin that's a scrap collector. Access trails were updated, tree stands checked, camera boxes positioned perfectly. It's easy to get perfection when you're not dying from heat or swatting bugs. Bait runs are actually the easy part. In and out in record time.
Never seen any other spring bear hunters yet. Good for us ..... but it's early for experience bear hunters to be out yet. When the first spring hunt started a lot of newbies were out weeks ago and I always expect to encounter some guys. My spots are pretty remote so I guess no one in their right minds would find them ... except maybe Joe (species) HAHA! Actually he'd be 2 miles and 2 portages past me!

If you keep doing what you've always done. You'll keep getting what you've always got!

We are heading up tomorrow morning to start baiting.
I can't wait to get out of the rate race for a few days and spend some time in the bear woods.
This will be our first spring hunt so I would imagine it will be a great learning experience for us. Depending on how it goes we are leaning toward switching to the spring hunt only. I would like to do the fall hunt as well if I don't fill my tag but as usual Vacation days are limited... lol

Yes that’s the problem, we’re are they now. For me it’s still worth checking.

That was to start baiting. Took your sage advice and have been starting things up a little later the last 2 years. None the less it was a successful outing and managed to get 3 canoe in baits set up last Saturday and moved 1200+ lbs of bait by canoe. Was pretty sore the next day after 13 hours of paddling and humping bait in and out of the canoe and through the bush. Heading in Friday night and if the baits are hit will be hunting Saturday, Sunday and Monday and camped on site about 2 to 3 km from the baits. I am taking my BIL and nephew along for the ride as they have never been off the pavement so to speak.

You did that backwards. You should have had them doing the heavy work, well you supervised.
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.
