Bill 71 is no laughing matter. It is a direct assault on legitimate gun owners by the Liberals.
Why is the OFAH not taking a firm stance against the liberals by employing all its members NOT to vote Liberal in the upcoming election.Thats what a lobby group would do.Read what is written on their website regarding bill 71.They take the walking on eggshells approach.
Then check out the CSSA website. No bull there. They come right out and attack the Liberals for trying to penalize honest gun owners for their own shortcomings on crime control.
After you check out both websites ask yourself which of these two organizations best have your back.Which one looks like they are really trying to fight for your gun ownership rights.

You're drawing the wrong comparisons. The organizations have different mandates from their members. Its like you're trying to compare Ducks Unlimited with the NRA. We don't criticize the CSSA for their lack of a stance on moose management, do we?

The OFAH does not stand up for shooters, they stand up for hunters. The fact that many hunters also own restricted firearms or hunt with pump and semi auto firearms does not seem to matter one bit to them.

You want them to start talking about it then contact them directly and make a stink, pull your money from them, if enough people do that it will dictate their mandate.

To hear a voice requires listening.

OFAH's approach has been mature, responsible and intelligent compared to the wild-eyed nuttery of other organizations.

X2. Actually I checked the CSSA website, and as of this morning, I could not find a useful update on the situation. After searching I found some useless article that just provided some quotes from some MP. The OFAH, on the other hand, has a long list of actions they took to improve the situation. Unfortunately, none of the changes they recommended were adopted. If the CSSA suggested changes, they weren't adopted either.

no wonder the liberals can pass bills like C71 - look at some of the comments in the posts above..we cant even be united against the Libs, instead we get guys with their panties in a bunch regarding the difference in wording about how one group stated they are against C71.. ninepointer made a good point, you cant compare some of these groups, but be glad we have them and be glad for what they stand for!

Just a reminder guys - THE OFAH, CSSF, are all fighting against Bill C71 - support either of them or all of them, and more importantly, get out and VOTE this fall and educate your co-workers, family members, etc - THAT will be much more effective than arguing about what poor couliewalker is bent out of shape about.

    1. The OFAH has been our voice. They have lobbied against bill C-71, and have devoted a lot of effort into informing it's membership.

    2. Let's be completely frank. The Libs pushed it through, and the Senate gave it royal assent, however the timing of it coming into force may be after the next federal election, and the Libs won't get back in. It will be a very simple matter for it to be repealed in Nov.

Close, but,no cigar,BBD. The Senate has passed it on for Royal Assent by The Governor General which is a mere formality likely before June 31. Andrew Scheer is on record stating that any firearms legislation by the Libs will be repealed and replaced by a CPC majority government. How they plan to accomplish that with a an "independant" (Liberal) controlled Senate remains to be seen, but, nevertheless, there it is.

Sorry, yes. The Senate doesn't give it royal assent, it is the next formality in the process. To date I don't believe any bill hasn't been granted same.

The bill didn't receive a majority vote with the senate, if a repeal if tabled and receives a majority vote in the HOC, likely the Senate will follow suit. But let's see....
