    Default Morels are out!!!!!!

    This rain has brought a good crop of morels out. Just started emerging 2 days ago in Fenelon Falls area. Looks like it will be a good year for them. Yummy yummy in my tiny tummy!!

    Yes I was out with my dog the other day and got into a bunch of them. Very tasty and worth looking for.

    Hoping there's still some this Fri. I got 4 of them last week, but by this time there's usually plenty. Ramps on the other hand......I have my fill for this year Burnt River's been good to me for ramps.
    This isn't a test run................Enjoy er'.......

    It's been a great year for them thus far! Had a few good hauls. Should still be more coming yet!

    You guys are real lucky. I live in North Bay and have looked for them for years. Not even sure if we have any around here.

    We have plenty here in the northwest
    Best habitat for the black morel around here is aspen dominated forest with trunk size 4-10 inches in diameter. Lots of undergrowth.
    It's tough slogging in dense woods with lots of mosquitoes but well worth it.

    Sometimes you can spend up to ten minutes looking at a spot trying to find the first one among the leaf litter , then it comes easier.
