not going to lie, this was the last thing I expected to read on here when I logged on . . . I feel your pain.
Maybe I'm reading into things a bit much, but if your online ing about your wife's poor impulsive spending habits then I'd also guess the problems are a rooted a bit deeper.

Something else to consider: there are worse things she could have spent the money on.

It's not that she spent money she did not have, but the money she spent now would have had to be paid back over the next year or so. In the next year if something happened and she needed the Emergency money, it would have not been there.

You mean shoes, and clothes? She has every closet and dresser in the house full of clothes and shoes. So much that she gives away one or two bags a month of stuff she can't wear anymore. There are clothes in the house she has had since she went to University in 1982..

I'm sorry things are not happy at home. Money /sex are the two biggest issues that can lead to divorce.
I've been married 47 years. No big money decisions are made without mutual agreement. Each of us has an "allowance " that we can spend as we wish - no questions asked. That has worked well for us.
" We are more than our gender, skin color, class, sexuality or age; we are unlimited potential, and can not be defined by one label." quote A. Bartlett

It's not the spending, it comes down to "IF" an emergency came up before she paid the visa balance off. I do not want her to have that kind of problem.
I made her take the vacation money and pay off the visa. Then she was not happy that we would not going to mark's hunting camp and hanging around camping for ten days next month.

sorry about these issues going on.
things could be worse tho. if all the loved ones are living and well theres not much more to be unhappy about.
sure she spent some extra money, which wasnt wise if what your explaining is true but maybe she wanted her niece to be more conformable staying as you mentioned for college women get carried away sometimes i guess, especially when decorating ahha.
