Farmer and Landowner Controlled
Hunt Validation
Farmers and landowners may be eligible
to receive a controlled deer hunt validation
for one controlled deer hunt season if they
meet one of the following criteria:
• They own a parcel of 20 hectares (50
acres) or more of land in a WMU with a
controlled hunt OR
• Their occupation is farming and they
have an Ontario Ministry of Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs Farm Business
Registration Number (or letter of
exemption from the Farm Organization
Accreditation Tribunal) in a WMU with a
controlled hunt OR
• They are the owner or the sole designated
representative (president, vice-president,
treasurer or secretary) of a company
which owns a parcel of land of 20
hectares (50 acres) or more in the WMU
with a controlled deer hunt.
Farmers and landowners who meet
the eligibility criteria may submit one
application for a controlled deer hunt
validation by completing an attestation
statement online or in-person at a licence
issuer or participating ServiceOntario
location.
Note: You must have a valid Outdoors
Card and a valid Deer Licence or Farmer’s
Deer Licence before your controlled deer
hunt validation will appear on your Licence
It use to say a direct relative of the landowner could also apply but it doesn't say that in the 2019 reg's. The applications always had spots to fill in for these relative's but i am unable to download this years applications to see. I played it safe and myself, my son and daughter just applied in the regular draw. Also , with the landowners permit you were only allowed to hunt in the "County" where the property is. For me that is Waterloo County. WMU 80 is alot bigger than Waterloo County(normally known as Waterloo Region) The Farmers Deer tag is a different thing, it's your actual tag and there is a whole set of rules for obtaining that, different from the rules of the controlled hunt tag or permit. Bottom line is check the regulations carefully or make a phone call, as these rules seem to change at any given time.
The direct relative, son, daughter, grandchild etc is still in effect. A buddy got their tags and validations this year.

I've gone in and got the permits right up until the week before the controlled hunt. I think they use to say they are available after a certain date in early October but I couldn't find that in this years reg book. I always went to the service Ontario on Stone Road in Guelph. The Ontario Government building.
