My uncle has an eiger for a farm quad. My cousin used and abused it for a long time. I know the odometer has turned over back to zero so over 10000 km on it. Bald tires, plastics have more tie straps holding it together than anything. Bike still runs fine, Suzuki makes bullet proof quads just like honda.

it only smokes when i gave it a little throttle.
i think its the carb, theres about a a couple cm of gas in the air box now, there was nothing when i took it apart yesterday. i think i will take the carb apart and clean it.

My guess it's that petcock. If it's like my suzuki there's a PRI setting on it. It will continue to dump gas into the carb ( then overflow into airbox) if it's not working right.
You can buy new one on Amazon cheap. You might be able to take it apart and clean it, wouldn't hurt to clean the carb too.

Ok... congrats on your new purchase, I didn't realize before how green you were in regards to ATVs, so be be safe.
The fuel petcock will have an OFF position.. it's most likely between the ON and RES.. I've never seen a bike that didn't have a fuel shut off.
Always, and I mean ALWAYS run premium fuel.. preferably Shell V-power as it's the only fuel without Ethanol.. other brands have 5% ethanol, shell has none in the V power.. ethanol is what kills fuel systems in carburator engines.. as a matter of fact, run V power in everything you own other than your car or truck.
Your ATV will need the carb cleaned and compression checked.. try and find someone to show you how to clean the carb, or at least watch some YouTube videos on how to do it for. After that, change all the fluids in the whole machine ( engine oil and front and rear diffs) and it should be good to go.

Come to think of it my friend has a kids size suzuki quad that had something funky going on with the petcock too. They are a bit different compared your typical shut off.

On is off. It's under vaccum when running. You turn it to Pri (Prime)and it will fill the carb without bike running. If you leave it on PRI it will fill the air box. Both my suzukis are like this. If its faulty like yours seems to be, it wont stop leaking fuel from the tank.
My guess this is the problem. Do that before doing any carb work.

Ahh ok.. I just did a 5 minute Google search and it appears that the fuel petcock is vacuum activated so it will only flow with the engine running.. if it is faulty or stuck in the PRIme position , fuel will gravity feed into the carb.
If you do modify it with a non vacuum style, be sure to plug the vacuum line.
I've never seen a petcock activated by engine vacuum.

yeah thats why i was a little confused i guess. the vacuum and air lines have already been plugged. hopegfully the new petcock will fix the problem if not i gotta take the carb apart and i really dont want to do that at the moment lol. id rather seen if the new parts fix the problem and if not ill have to take the carb apart.
