too hot for deer...
I booked today off for the first deer hunt. Waking up, I knew it would be too hot. Even if I were to shoot a deer, I'd have to work quick to get it to the butcher and I wasn't up for the hassle. So I hit one of my river spots instead.
Parked the van, heard the geese hanging out in the river and saw a flock land with some others.
I quickly scrambled to throw on my waders, guillie suit and thew some shells in the chamber.
Crawled on all fours to the shoreline and had them thinking I was a bush blowing in the wind. They clucked along and I managed put a few birds in the bag. a little while longer and there's 2 more.
Retrieval was fun, happened to slip in the river and went for a bit of a swim. All in all a good day and glad to be enjoying the sun instead of cursing it.
oh, and first time I've ever shot a limit. kind of cool.20191001_111416.jpg

Heck if you had to go for a swim you picked a good day for it. Good too see you made it work. Figured it be to warm for the dogs today.

Congrats on the limit. Nice day for a swim, even if it was not on purpose lol

Good shooting. If you know any bears hunters goose carcasses make great bait.

thanks all. abins it's a carlson's extended full choke. it's made quite a difference. I used the cheaper winchester 3.5 BBs and they pattern quite well out of the sxp and this choke.
