Has too much time on their hands
I've shot either one depending on which one gave me the first good chance. No qualms about it. The MNRF issues me an antlerless tag, I don't fool myself into thinking I'm managing the deer population in any of the areas I hunt.

Hard call, you can look at it a couple of different ways. I would take the doe.

For me there would be no question about it, assuming the shot is there I would be taking the larger animal. Bottom line for me is the amount of meat I put in the freezer, I couldn't care which sex or age it was.
Cheers

Take the fawn, let the doe get older and thereby there is a good possibility of it having twins the following yera as it gets older.

SORRY
I should have mentioned that one of the area we hunt, you can get additional tags for antlered or antlerless, so we each have 2 tags....

I’d ideally in a perfect world take the fawn. But whichever Gives me the money shot, I’ll take.

after raising my goats that are alot like deer, I've become soft and passed on this situation last year. 5 years ago was a completely different story, I'd have taken the fawn. i dont mind waiting for a doe without a fawn or eating tag soup at the end of the year now a days.

Fill your freezer and save the herd...…..no brainer JMO

Interesting tread-while having some questions to myself about the EAB program,i spent some time reading some articles about it ,why ,where and how.
Interestingly, never could i locate reason for EAB-to balance doe to buck ratio.
Everywhere they claim it is needed to control-Deer population.(South Carolina,Virginia and Wisconsin i read articles from)Wisconsin also tried to reduce deer herd due to CWD .
Based on those articles(we can safely say they know what they were talking about)-i think we can learn the opposite: IF the deer numbers are low,DO NOT shoot does.
Now,every area is different, and every each of us is different.
So-answer to the OP:
-if the deer numbers are high, why not.Fawn would be my choice.
-if the deer numbers are low, each hunter needs to make his/her own decision.Just simply MNRF giving out(actually selling for good $$$) doe tags does not mean the deer numbers justify taking them.............yet to each its own.
Here comes to my memory a forum member who posted about 5-7 years ago ,in the golden era of additional deer tag galore, that he harvested 6-8 bucks in one season. With all the story and pictures for proof.
Then the deer number crash happened .
I could not help but to marvel about his success in the following years........just saying. Not my business though......
