    Default .58 Parker Hale Musketoon

Spend a few days on the range trying to get the .58 cal Parker Hale Musketoon ready for hunting. Lots of trial and error working with FFg Goex and then switched to Fg Goex.

    Best results to date:

526 gr 58 cal Minnie Ball (9 shots on target..1 at the Gong )
    80gr of Fg Goex

Shot 1 and 2 were before I put a 'Hold off' target 3" off center. There is no horizontal adjustment on the iron sites..so I have to remember to make my POA 3" right.

made a mess of my plywood back stop HaHa...

Should be good to go Mike. Can to tap the front sight to the left a bit?.........................Daniel
It's not the mountain ahead that wears you out, it's the grain of sand in yer shoe.

Hi Daniel, no the front sight is a solid piece that is sweated to the barrel. Same with the rear sight, it's a ladder that doesn't have any adjustment. I may have to eventually find a Peep for the rear sight that I can adjust.

But for now I'll have to use the old Kentucky windage adjustment and aim a little to the right

Seems akin to getting smacked by a rocket propelled freight train!

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

That looks like a lot of fun but it really throws a lot of lead. Isn't 1 oz about 437 grains? Those are heavier than 12 gauge slugs. Hope you get a crack at a deer with it. Good luck,

Yes they're about 100 gr heavier than a 12ga slug.

Slugs although wider, have a huge 'cup' under them.

I guess that is the caliber the British Military used back in the day.

    Ouch on both ends.

Are they cast of pure lead?
