And Dufferin requires a $30 permit

Some conservation authorities charge a permit fee and some don’t.

So TORONTO surprisingly doesn’t have a discharge bylaw against bows except as part of the park bylaw. You can legally bow hunt in certain places inside Toronto boundaries as far as I know.

Rouge park is full of deer. There lotsa drama over some guy legally bow hunting on private land in close proximity of this park

You would be more successful if you tried hunting deer instead of grouse around the GTA. The grouse down south are like a completely different species. They are so shy and smart with extremely lower population densities, compared to the northern birds that a 12 hour day going north, (4 hour drive north, 4 hour hunt and 4 hour return), you'll have at least a couple of birds if not a limit. Hunting 12 hours around Toronto, 1 hour drive, 10 hour hunt, 1 hour return, and you will get 0 birds, most of the time. Maybe 1 every 4th hunting trip. That's if your a wicked good still hunter & wing shooter. I swear their brains must have evolved to be 3 times larger down south or something crazy. I have seen grouse duck and hide under and behind stuff and sit there for hours, waiting for it to be safe to show itself, or fly away whenever it hears something walking 200 feet away, never letting anyone get close enough to see them. I remember hunting 2 grouse close to port perry, that habitually hung out under a spruce tree along a trail. They would fly away when i was 200 feet away from them, whenever I approached. I tried crawling up to them, coming at them from every angle, and it wasn't until I tried about 10 times one season and maybe on my 10th attempt the following season I finally got one of the two. I finally decided to try getting them by going in the middle of a windy snow storm to hide my approach. I jumped them and followed them, which i did many times unsuccessfully before, because they would first fly through hardwoods to a very distant (200 yards minimum) larch stand and hide in the branches, and flush if you came closer than 100 yards. I finally was able to get one by slowly sneaking up under them, taking 1-2 steps every 5 minutes. That 1 bird was the result of MANY failed attempts. I could have shot 30 dear with the effort i put into that 1 grouse.

The Moral of my long boring story - GO NORTH!
