F-150 vs Silverado

I had 2 of the RAM 1500 diesels, yes great on fuel mileage but it you are thinking of diesel, make sure you do a lot of highway driving. City driving is hard on them and that was my biggest problem, would never get the engine heated up then shut down. I traded to a grand Cherokee, as I only used the truck for hauling my quad around. Now I just use my trailer and it is by far easier now, especially loading a deer in it.

I have a '16 F150 supercrew FX4 with the 5.0 litre and I'm currently at 12.7L/100kms. No issues with it other than a couple of recalls, which they all at some point have. Really impressed with the comfort & space in the cab, also love the real sound of the V8 lol.

I'd personally stay clear of all three of the domestics (Ford, Chev/GMC, Dodge). We run all three brands at work (like trailering, lots of highway driving). The frequency of repair on all three brands is terrible compared to the Toyota Tundras that are also in the fleet. We just had 3/4 of our Chev/GMC six cylinder trucks fail with transmission problems. Non-stop brake and tranny, engine head problems, driveshaft and transfer case, computer, electrical, issues with the Dodges. Terrible gas mileage with the 5.7liter dodge engine, brake, drive shaft, u-joint, electrical, and engine block problems with the fords. Other than a 1980 Ford f100 with an inline 300, I can't say I've had a single positive experience with any Ford or GMC that I've owned in the past. The best trucks I have ever owned are Toyotas. My current 2010 Tundra 3.1 liter V8 has 246,000km on it now. It tows heavy tandem horse trailers, landscape trailers, used offroad alot at our farm. It has been an outstanding vehicle. I've replaced the battery, two worn u-joints, it's had 2 brake jobs, one new park brake cable, and three burned out light bulbs. Other than that, its been oil changes, lubing the drivetrain, rad flush, air filters' and spark plugs. It was an expensive truck to buy, but after nine years of ownership I feel the cost of ownership has been lower than if I bought a domestic. I want to buy another one but I almost soiled myself when I saw the price! Good luck finding a low KM Tundra that's 2-3 years old, as they want 90% of brand new cost. The 3.1 liter small 8 has been flawless. Lots of power to trailer what I pull and it has always given me 24-26mpg on the highway when it kicks into 6th gear (I think this is about 10-12 liters per 100).

^^^^^ I’ve owned a few different trucks Ford and Chevy....disposable trucks if you ask me. I bought a new 16’ Tundra crew cab and will never look back! Best truck I’ve ever used. Tow atv, sidexside, snowmobiles with ease and geat mileage for a pickup.

I’ve been reading all you comments. Thanks so much. Its great to hear honest opinions on their experiences. Dodge was never in the running. My dad has a dodge and it was a lemon. I now own a chev. I never gave the Toyota a look. Perhaps that my best bet.

I drove a 2019 F150 Limited as a lease this fall for work. In 2 months it had two recalls. I don't know if they all have this, but the f^%$Ing engine shuts off if the truck is idling for any any period of time. Did it to me at a construction stop, at Timmy's drive through, and midway through launching a boat at a launch! The first time it did this i said WTF? Turns out it's supposed to do this by design. It did the engine shut down right when we were shifting from 2wd to 4wd. We heard a nasty bang in the transfer case then it was locked in 4wd. Had to take it to the dealership to get it unlocked. God knows what it did to the driveline. I wonder what the engine kill design is doing to your coils, ignition system, and your battery. Glad it's not my truck!

I used to have Ford's but had tranny issues and 4500 km after warranty they did nothing, switched to Cheverolet some 20 years ago. I am on 4 th Pickup and love my Silver, have The True North Package, its great on mileage, cruise along engine drops to 4 cyl, on highway getting 8.2 l/100 cant beat that
Make sure you do get snow tires for her
