I decided to revisit a bullet I used when I first got my Savage .50 cal smokeless muzzy. It was a spitzer bullet I made from a custom mold I had made. Originally it made a 325 grain spitzer bullet with a boattail base. I use this with a sabot and kept it at speeds of around 2300 fps. This performed quite well and I was fortunate to harvest several deer and even managed to connect on a moose.
When I went to a .45 cal barrel and my goal was to go sabotless I abandoned the notion of this bullet.
Big Jack got me thinking after reading his remarks on another board re. Powder Coated cast bullets he was using from his 45/70.
I thought I would try these out with a moderate load in my .45 sabotless. If all works out it will enable me to spend a little more time at the range and save the pocketbook at the same time. I modified the mold and removed most of the boattail and shaved about 25 grains doing so which cast a 300 grain bullet ( which is my preference ).
Here's a pic of the cast bullets

I do plan on shooting these powder coated with a veggie wag between the powder/bullet, here's a pic of some that I've done and full form sized them.
Yes the mold work was done by a buddy of mine, this style wasn't available, it casts a .456/7 dia. slug
