A friend of mine took the front shoulders off a deer we found dead during the rifle season one year. The deer had been shot by the neighbour. They tracked it for over a kilometer onto the property we were hunting, but by the time they found it, the coyotes had gotten into the rear legs, so they left the deer there. My buddy harvested the front shoulders off the deer a few days later and had them ground up. Not something I would do, but he lived to tell the tale.

Coyotes attacked this small buck mid winter in my barn yard. Blood every where. He eventually made it to the safety of the Barn. I went out to see what the dogs were on about, saw the pack of yotes still in the yard. I shot him to take him out of his misery and called the MNR to claim claim the carcass.

I had pictures of him (distinctive rack) from the previous fall on my trail cam (bush beside the farm). Was a healthy young deer.

When I went out it was still dark....only pairs of eyes. Went back out once the sun came up and they were gone.

What was the outcome of interaction with MNR?
I was called on the property in similar situation. I would take the carcass, but the owner does not want all this fuss with MNR.
That's why I'm asking. Seems like if I would leave it for coyotes feast then it's fine, but if I'd like to take a part of it then I have to get the owner a headache interacting with MNR.
    Correct?

What fuss? Could you not just call it in, like a road kill, if you did not shoot it? I have registered road killed deer before , and no MNRF shows up , they just give you a registration number. Good to go.

Just call it in, they give you a number over the phone.
