Ottawa Area Bow shop
Moved to Smiths Falls about 6 months ago and its time I start shooting the bow again. Any shops in the area you guys would recommend for a new string/ tune up? Preferably with a target range to sight in

The closest one (and the best) to you would be 'The Hunting Store' in Richmond. They have a range right in the store. The owner has been doing bow work for well over 30 yrs.
There is another one just out side Winchester, South Nation Archery , which is excellent. But more of a drive.
Welcome to the neighbourhood...you'll have to join us for breakfast in Kemptville some day.

Thanks, The Hunting store sounds like the place I'm looking for!
Also, I'd definitely be interested in the kemptville breakfast, I'll keep an eye out for the details

+1 on THS in Richmond.
Great bunch of folks in there, and an indoor archery range to test after tune up.

My thoughts are mixed on them, was not a fan of the gunsmithing part of it, they did not even look at the guns for over a month, Gunco had them fixed in a week.
The people all seem nice enough though.

I haven't availed myself of their gunsmith services. As far as sales and service for archery, etc, they're great. They also are decent to deal with for purchasing guns and ammo.
But like all things, some are better than others.
I had an OU take a year at Precision Arms in King City to replace a firing pin and weak spring. A lot of shops are busy, depending on the job.

This is true, and it may have just been that one guy or that one guy on a bad day, it happens. I have heard some really good things about them and some mixed views, I think that personal experience will trump anything in a situation like this.
Bow hunting up this way does not seem to be as big as in SW Ontario, bow shops are just not as plentiful, used to go to the bow shop in Waterloo before I moved away for school.

The Bow Shop, and The Gun Room.
When I lived down that way, they got a fair amount of my money too.

The gun room guys always looked at you weird until they knew you, not sure why. I popped in last time I was down, Dan still owns it, Frank is still in from time to time. Frank was the guy with the long hair and giant belt buckle.
The bow shop guys and gals are great, always pop in when I am down seeing my parents.
