DU not supporting Gun owners

There are 200,000 names on this petition against the Government proposed changes but there are 2.2 million licensed gun owners in Canada.

I think if I were you guys to be a lot more worried about the other TWO MILLION having not signed the petition.

I fully support their stance and can see me having them put up some duck nesting boxes on my ponds.

It isn't a system of you have to be for or against one or the other.

We can be concerned about the 2M persons who haven't signed the petition yet, AND highlight that a very popular charitable organization which purports itself to support hunting, and benefits greatly from firearms owning waterfowl hunters, isn't issuing a statement to its membership, nor falling down on the side of the law against it.

Argument from a position whereby one position depends on the other isn't an ideal position.

The number of signatures does seem low to me for something so important but it is by far the highest number of signatures in history. For some perspective Wendy’s petition for a gun ban got 20,00

Actually, it's more about our system of government that we should all be concerned about as Canadians. Any governing party can use the OIC, it's been used many times throughout our history, that isn't news. The fact that option exists at all, should be a concern.

I don't want to start a big argument here but, having been a member of D.U. for many years, I have to stand up for them.

Ducks Unlimited main function, mandate or whatever you want to call it is , 'the acquiring , improving and maintaining of wetlands "' Without wetlands , you/we would have no waterfowl to hunt, and one thing to remember is " that there are many members of D.U. that are not hunters, yet they are there doing what they can to help acquire and keep wetlands going to enable us hunters to also do what we like , that is hunting waterfowl and also so that many others, viewers photographers and such can enjoy the wetlands for what they are and do accomplish.
Wetlands are necessary for the survival of many species, not just waterfowl that is why I support Ducks Unlimited!

I was a supporter of DU, but stopped years ago. i don't see why anyone is surprised at them not supporting gun owners, I didn't like the idea of me as a hunter giving them money so they could buy of land and make it unhuntable. I see this as just another tree hugging city person moving to the country to post everything and not allow people to do what Canadians have done from the start. I have no problem with someone not wanting me to hunt their property, but when they turn and start lecturing me about how bad I am as a person I just shake my head, because I realize they have come from the city and are trying to make everyone around them be like them. Even the farmers don't like these people.

DU Canada states it has purchased 300,00 acres of land since it's inception. Just in the last 3 years it has raised $304,000,000. That's over a $1000.000 and acre. I understand some operating costs. But this was just the last 3 years!!! What I'm getting at is it's not money well spent. I guess supporting them is like a bad habit.

You just can't help yourself can you? Always have to be contrary just to stir the pot. Obviously hunters don't really matter to DU yet you support them regardless, sure doesn't say much about your character does it. Pretty sad.

Well with just 200,000 votes out of 2.2 million you kinda look like a "fringe special interest group" to other Canadian,s concerned about gun control and what not.The OIC issue with not resonate with most Canadians.
