Ducks Unlimited main function, mandate or whatever you want to call it is , 'the acquiring , improving and maintaining of wetlands "' Without wetlands , you/we would have no waterfowl to hunt, and one thing to remember is " that there are many members of D.U. that are not hunters, yet they are there doing what they can to help acquire and keep wetlands going to enable us hunters to also do what we like , that is hunting waterfowl and also so that many others, viewers photographers and such can enjoy the wetlands for what they are and do accomplish.
Wetlands are necessary for the survival of many species, not just waterfowl that is why I support Ducks Unlimited!

I guess, when you think about it,it's not a lot different than this forum where some members are only into angling and archery hunting and couldn't give two hoots and a holler if all firearms are banned. It doesn't affect them,so,who cares?

I see this as just another tree hugging city person moving to the country to post everything and not allow people to do what Canadians have done from the start. I have no problem with someone not wanting me to hunt their property, but when they turn and start lecturing me about how bad I am as a person I just shake my head, because I realize they have come from the city and are trying to make everyone around them be like them. Even the farmers don't like these people.
Can you support this with any facts? I have yet after all these years, to here anyone from D.U. condemning hunters, or having farmers around here saying that they do not like D.U.,where do you get that from?

Maybe 2 million gun owners don't believe that an online petition will amount to a bloody thing, so they don't bother.

Or they have seen the abuse of power so often by the opposition that they become immune to all the tricks and figure they are all "at it".

There are a lot of shift,s taking place and one I have noticed over the years is that younger hunters of big game seem to buying BOLT ACTION rifles over semi auto,s most all the time.I also see on most hunting shows that bolt action rifles are more often being used.

In response to mkunk.
DU does create and maintain water features on lands they do not own as well.
A water control dam to keep a pond/marsh at optimal depths probably isnt cheap. Think of just permits from the local Conservation Authority.

That's quite possible. Bolt actions have always been more popular for several reasons, mostly, because they're easier to maintain and there's a significant cost advantage. One can buy a very nice upgraded bolt action for the extra cost of a semi-auto. Many new hunters are coming from European countries where beautifully crafted bolt actions are exceedingly popular. After having owned and used both over the years,I'm solidly in the "bolt action" camp, but,I'll not accept that semi-autos should be removed from the market or be "bought back" simply because they look "scary." I'm still fully supporting semi-auto owners as I would expect them to support me should the situation be reversed..

So, if the 200,000 signatures makes it a "fringe special interest group " it would only make sense that any other petition in Canadian history was not worth laying eyes upon, correct?

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?
