Howa and Tikka T3

If I'm not mistaken I think the Howa action is used in the weatherby vanguards, but I could be wrong. Never own one, but I have owned Tikka and they are good rifles

I appreciate that info. I was clueless to that fact and after a phone call I have been informed, you are not mistaken.

I love the way my Weatherby shoots but she's a tank to carry all day.

Howa 1500 is a weatherby vanguard for the most part. They both shoot well. I think they only come with hinge floorplate but you can buy a DM kit.

Any weatherby I've ever owned shot great. No issues.

They are heavier than a T3x. I'd buy the Tikka over the Howa but I dont think you can go wrong either way.

That is the one thing I have noticed with all the specs similar to the weatherby. They seem to be a tank to carry.

I have had the t3 in hand and love the feel and fit so the next cabelas sale it probably will happen.

Another thing to look into is if your going to be reloading. Barrel length and twist rate, Not sure what differences in the Howa or Tikka but this could impact your decision. Something to look into.

Have you looked much at store shelves to see how available factory ammo is for that cartridge? Being newish you may not have many options.

Agreed, due to the near perfect marketing scheme the CM is widely available and has become extremely popular. I think you would have a harder time finding a decent retailer that doesn't carry CM ammo.

It is a great round that will take anything out there without blowing the living snot out of it. I'm not a fan by any means because of the marketing but if forced to choose between the CM and the caliber pushed above I would take the CM.

Now if you threw a .260 or 7mm08 in as options.......

The .264 bullet is so ridiculously efficient it is crazy. The 6.5x55mm with a long throat shooting 156 and 160gr bullets is still used all the time for Scandinavian moose, now they have the SE version which is the same cartridge but a little hotter for modern actions. That 6.5 CM is essentially the same round, as the 260 and 6.5x55, in a short action like the 260. I do not know where this cartridge is going to go, it may hold strong, it may die, but centerfire rounds can be reloaded, so if you can hold on to a stash of brass you should have no issues.
