I hope all the cidiots that voted Trudeau are happy they cant get to work now because he doesn't have the balls to stop the blockades now in Hamilton. At least the tax paying people out west took down the blockades themselves.

Or a PM who sends mixed messages by saying reconciliation is important yet mocks FN protesters in front of Toronto elite or who says he wants to better FN wealth yet stymies projects which would do exactly that.

Yes, his years of promises to everybody (FNs, industry, environmentalists) have elevated expectations all around. Now he can't fulfill all those promises.

The power struggles within FN the world are real and are having ongoing negative impacts on their ability to negotiate in good faith from the Federal level all the way down to the municipal government level. Governments at all levels can only operate within the framework of existing legislation. When that legislation identifies a duty to consult with a First Nation as defined in the Indian Act, there is no party status afforded to other purported FN governance groups that may emerge during the process. FNs themselves are struggling with this. Just look at the current situation with the Metis Nation of Ontario and the different pop-up groups that have emerged who assert that the MNO does not speak for them.

The problem now is the original protest that the hereditary chiefs were doing about not being consulted has been highjacked by environmental radicals and general anarchists who have decided to hit at our economy. Why is this not being considered an attack on our sovereignty?

The fact the protests are a small group within the band population does speak to your point about the internal strife within bands. Not all FN bands or even the majority of the bands agree with these protests.

In-fighting among splinter groups and the inability of the Assembly of First Nations to unite in a common cause will be their great undoing. Liberals are the grand masters of division and derision. With this issue,they'll wield it like an ax.....much the same as what they're doing with firearms owners. Bafflegab,bullshyte and waffling gets 'em every time.

They must have great employers to let them get time off work to set up these barricades... I asked my boss today if I could have paid time off to go protest the FN barricades. He wish me good luck on finding a new job....

Maybe CP, CN, and VIA should setup barriers were all the roads off the Reservations cross the tracks. It's railway property so they would not be trespassing. Lets see how FN feel when the groceries and gas don't come in, and they can't get out to visit the doctor or go to appointments.
