Moose Management changes 2020/2021

Can anyone advise if the dates have changed substantially for 2020 moose seasons? I was considering hunting moose this year, but as far as I can see, the season has been moved and now butts up against deer hunting week.

Anyone seen any details yet (open/close dates) on the proposed 2020:
-Extended calf season?
-New archery season?

I’ve only seen the opening dates and assume they are all 7 day seasons.

I can live with the changes, the cost of an adult tag can be split with the group. The thing to remember is that it’s not a group tag, but belongs to the individual who drew it.

Finally a system that is fair to everyone.

I wonder if the point system separates the different kind of tags? If you get a calf tag, do you start back at the bottom for cow and bull tags.???

No different from the way it's been for years. Just because one applied in a group in the past and was successful in getting a tag didn't anchor the tag holder to the group. The tag holder could have thumbed their nose at the group and hunted alone . Maybe ended up with the nose bloodied but that's the way it is/was.

I do like the cow/calf tags so at least if the guys you are hunting with have 2 cow tags and see a cow and calf you can take the pair.i also like the idea of having to apply for calf tags if that is what you would like

Elimination of non-resident moose hunting opportunities... my understanding is now you either have to go through an outfitter or family member... and it wasn't this way before, correct?

if so, i think i like that.

I may be wrong but I interpret the costs to be:
$15 to apply, if you would like to hunt purchase the moose license for $35 and if you'd like the tag you were successful in obtaining ie. bull add another $200.
Your other party members will need to pay $15 to apply and $35 for their moose license should they decide to hunt with the group, and party hunting is allowed for any tags obtained ?????????????

That's what I understand from information on the OFAH site. Party hunting is still allowed,but,the proximity requirement has been reduced from 5 kms to 3kms which could be problematic for larger groups. Also,the non-resident "family" hunt has been eliminated. Personally,I vehemently disagree with that approach. There's many families that hunt together as a family tradition that I believe is vital to our hunting heritage. I hope it's retained.

A nonresident can still hunt with a family member, but he/she can’t enter the draw. They can party hunt with the resident hunter that has a tag. A bit better, but not much.
It sounds to me that the cost of a moose hunt has gone up....15 to apply, 35 for a licence, then more for a tag if successful ???
