I am not sure if there is a lot more benefit to anyone (except some ,they would have huge points accumulated)
Here is how i look at it:
    WMU 15 B
    2018
    158 bull tags were availabe
there were 1495 applicants for it.

Perhaps if we assume whoever wanted to hunt there ,will keep wanting to hunt there, and if they keep the huntable bull moose number the same-there will be 10 years worth accumulated points needing for 1 bull tag!
That makes 10 year turnaround for the second kick at the cat.

Or WMU 48 -33 bulls for 888 hunters!?

Providing the moose numbers(or hunter numbers)will not decline.
If moose number goes down-it will be worst,
If hunters number go down-who knows.

And- WMU 15B is where there is Guaranteed group size of 9 hunters
.Most WMUs are by now 8-9 or up.
And we all know-most of the reasonably huntable WMUs are not having guaranteed size anymore.See WMU 48.

Yes,there will be group hunt allowed-up to 10 ppl.
Yes-there will be groups which will have enough "senior"hunters to have a fair chance at the tag year after year, for a while at least, but mostly will not.

I am really curious how all this will play out.

I think we'll need to get our minds around the fact that "group" tags will no longer exist. I also think you may be right about how "senior" hunters will have a fair chance at a tag, but, the great unknown will be if all the 'senior" guys will be allotted tags all at once. Can you just imagine if a group had ten senior guys and they all got tags at the same time? In theory,it could happen. That would be the last time those "senior" hunters would ever get a tag in their lifetime. That would suck.

Anyone who is successful in the first round based on points will have the option of declining their tag and retaining their points.

At the end of the day, this new system isnt going to be any better than the old. WMUs with few moose will still have limited hunting opportunities, but now will have to deal with more single hunters with lots of points getting tags as opposed to large groups being the most likely.

I too, hope they don’t change them. Guys in our group picking leave dates now....they have never deviated from the tentative dates in the past so, here’s hoping !!!!

Trimmer-the groups will be still allowed-if You draw, you will be able to have 9 (or 10 -not sure +10 or 10 total....)more in your hunting party.
This is pretty much the same as the Elk hunt philosophy: one is allowed every 4 years to draw a tag(in theory)and can hunt in group of total 4 hunters.So-if one is lucky every consecutive years from the group of 4(and being successful puts you back 4 years)then in THEORY one can hunt elk every year.Just someone else will have the tag.

Same will apply here-and yes, some groups will break up due of individuals now can have their own hunt(but then they will wait a LOT for the next opportunity)or they will GROUP hunt,as before.
I think that will happen mostly-with the common sense moose groups at least.

Then-we go back to square one-larger groups with "senior" hunters(not by age -but by point numbers)will have it all.

[COLOR=#000000]At the end of the day, this new system isnt going to be any better than the old. - dmichel:

Agreed-something had to be done, and it is easy to pick and choose after the fact-but this system will be no better then the old one.Just different groups will have better chances(or worst).

We wait 3-5 years with this system, and then WE ALL will go back to the MAGIC of the moose "DRAW".If the moose population declines as it is..........
Because there will be more "enough point"owners then moose tags available -so they WILL need to draw if they want any fairness.
