Given China's propensity to violate human rights and love for child labour I am surprised the outbreak has hurt them at all as the virus seems to not really bother 9 year olds and has minimal mortality for kids over 10:

The lady in newmarket went to a few old age groups before she was confirmed to test positive.

We may have out first Canadian death soon as a lady in bc is in critical condition and currently in ICU . She may have had it for awhile with out knowing. Therefore she probably spread it without knowing.

That's just it, is how many healthy people are carrying
Covid-19 dormant in them and not even know it. The infection rate could be far higher then we realize

Regular flu has killed more people in NA than the Corona Virus has killed worldwide.

Much ado about a normal occurrence.

Wash your hands. Don't visit people who are sick, and if you have occasion to attend hospital, or Dr's offices use standard anti-viral protocols.

BBD, I don’t think it’s quite that simple anymore. Yes the flu has and will kill more people.

But authorities don’t close schools & sporting events en mass (Italy) or declare emergencies in multiple states (US) over the flu. They’re treating this one differently, one has to hope that they are doing this on the advice of knowledgeable medical staff.

This is true. The flu has a transmission rate of less than 10% of preliminary Wuhan numbers. The flu kills, but the slow spread of the flu means its manageable by health care services. Covid-19 has the opportunity to spread so fast that no health care could keep up which would increase the death stats significantly.

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

We are up over 40 now .

Who's to stay a terrorist cant come here and start infecting many. It only takes a few to deliberately spread this. They are willing to take their own lives what better way and still possibly live?
It only takes a few sick people to enjoy some dinner out hit a movie head to the bar and move on.
