No I have not been to the cottage since November. I like to think that I am a responsible citizen. I follow the rules no matter how distasteful they are. I chat with my one son in Australia, on FaceTime every couple of days. The other son, is deemed an essential federal government employee, see him every day when he returns from work.......Sorry if my following the directives upsets you, that's just the kind of guy I am.

Not much upsets me and definitely not this lol.
You are not breaking any rules by going to see what needs to be done at the cottage.
Did you winterize it for 2 seasons ?
You can stay at home all you please but it may be a while yet. After the opener for sure what if something happened to it during the winter or these past few wind storms ?
You would still be a responsible person if you went to the cottage and came back no? They just discourage you staying there in hopes you can ride out the virus away from the city. Be responsible buy gas in your community take your supplies for the day or 2 clean up open up . Come home dont put a burden on there supplies .
What if a bear broke in lol. If there is damage now you wouldn't want the damage any worse. For instance the wind damaged the wind pipe on the neighbors roof all the rain can get in when it warms up if it's not fixed will create mold. I have to do the right thing and them know right now to get it fixed lol. [emoji6][emoji1787]

What is necessary travel for some, is unnecessary travel for others. Go get your wool.

Can’t agree more. Also more opportunities for people to kick your door in because they think you are home obeying the Shepard. Definitely worth the trip for peace of mind on such a large investment

Lol.
“I defy anyone to say otherwise”....How easily we cherry pick
There’s a world of difference saying “I’m going to do (or did) what some say I shouldn’t” that’s a statement of fact, and I defy anyone.....
And constantly trying to justify it or whine about it.Just do it.
yeah the reasoning is sound, logic is sound. The debates “talking about it”. Whatever.
it’s not “martial law”
yet.

You said that you did not justify your actions to anyone, except yourself. I was just pointing out..... that was false. You were justifying your actions to a bunch of yahoos on an outdoor website. Who really don't care.

Hardly. There are other cottagers (Livebates for one) on this forum, that have said the same. Im going to my cottage, Im going to my daughter, Im going camping, Im going fishing. That is not trying to justify it. They are statements of fact.
Honestly G, and I struggle to articulate it. Your reasons, are your reasons. Frankly from what I know, I'd already be there. Because, we can't see tomorrow and while I think it's a very small chance, there is a very small chance JT or Ford could call in the army and like Quebec set up barricades. At which point, you won't have the option.
Someone on Facebook earlier this week posted a video taken from Thickson road of dozens, dozens of green trucks rolling down the tracks..Could mean nothing, could mean something.
And the invite for a coffee stop in remains open.
/one other thing.
Right now, we are looking at mid June before restrictions start being lifted. Could it possibly be a little earlier? Maybe. Could it be a little later? Maybe. But mid June is the target.
Everyone is fixated on "confirmed cases". Thats not the number that will determine when. Its when deaths are down to single digits.
And thats because there is a 3 week window, between contracting it and recovery or death. And because we are only testing a small percentage of the population no-one knows how many positives are actually out there. So until people that contract it say in mid late may....have the time to recover or die...and deaths are down to single digits..........

Your opinion of people leaving the city has changed in the past few days. Earlier you had called me selfish, citiot, and other names because I had considered heading north. Why the change of heart? If we survive this , I will take you up on that coffee , I will call when I am in Little Britain.

It’s called being “sarcastic”, or tit for tat. If you recall the orignal train wreck. More than once I said “it’s not about you”, it the you, +1, +2, + 1, +4 and the bad apples. I had to repeat that many times....
Now my memory certainly isn’t what it used to be. But I also recal at one point having to point to a quote where I said “I don’t give rats backside what you do”. It’s the
6,000,000 x .1

A story in today's Peterborough Examiner reports that Curve Lake and Hiawatha FN Police have set up roadblocks at the entrances of the Reserves backed by OPP to check addresses of drivers who have cottages on FN land or must pass through the reservation to get to their cottages. If they're coming from the GTA,they're being turned around and sent home.
