    Fishing seasons 2020 added.

I also added map scale for better distance judging.

I’ve kept my old android phone in service just for this app. I wish there was an apple port though.

What I like about it over iHunter is that I can select a specific species and see exactly what WMU are open instead of having to go through a few WMU and look at each list.

    P4RP,

First of all a big thank you for your time developing and maintaining the app , it is simply awesome!

As I am sure you already know the CLUPA maps are produced with information stored in Ontario’s Land Information Warehouse and you could get access to the GIS data through an API offered to public by OntatioGeoHub under a Provincial data sharing program (not only Ontario Open Data - cannot remember the other initiative) .
If you're a NFP it is free.

Also, under the Open Gov License you should be able to get free access to ESRI data, which is what GeoHub uses under the same license.
Data access alternatives: Through universities (most of them cache data for their own projects/students, a student "friend", cached data is free (you already have a proper disclaimer within your app)

ArcGIS overlay on Google Maps sample code

    API explorer. JSON & FullREST

If you cannot get free access to the API, it might be worth getting a petition going, I am sure we will have plenty of signatures

I hope any of the above help...

Personally, I would not implement this feature. I'd classify it as a "NTH" as it would be a nice to have for those hunters who do not put their time into hunting (scouting, discover land, discover land use etc...) , and some other app vendor is banking on. Again, just a personal opinion

Hit me up on DM if you wanna exchange some ideas

I shared your app with all my fishing/hunting buddies, and thanks again for your time and effort!

Mikedinoro thanks for sharing this detailed info. I was wondering how people are accessing detailed geo data in Ontario. Appreciate it.

    Hi guys,
just wanted to update you that I've created another app for hunters and fishermen (and others) - Location Chat. The idea is to track your own and your friends' positions on the map online and to send messages at the same time.

So, for example, if you are hunting together you get to your stands and be able to see where everybody is. And if you spot a deer, for example, you could warn your friend - "buck is heading your way!". You can also mark a location on the map so people in the same chat (and only them) will be able to see it. It obviously requires cell (data) connection in the area.

When you install the app you need to register an account on one of suggested free chat servers. Account is not linked to your phone # or email, you don't need to provide any personal info. Account looks like regular email address '[email protected]'. Once your friend does the same - you add their account to your contacts in Location Chat and you are ready to go.

Give it a try! I'm looking for suggestions and improvement ideas.
