It's because we want to save a few pennies, and probably China controls a few politicians and businesses already ... it's BS. We HAVE to get our domestic industrial strength back ... we cannot continue buying everything from China ... it's not sustainable! Not even for our garbage dumps!

Sending 16 tons of medical equipment even though we were already on reduced supply since they hadn't restocked after disposing of expired gear...
Selling more weapons to Saudi Arabia (deal earlier this month), killing energy East, ....
Seems to me like everyone but the Canadian voter has controls in place.

Well why haven't we made our own yet? yes some Canadian companies have opened so why are we lagging so far behind. It's been at least a month since our government was going to make their own ppe gear.
China could have built half of Toronto in a month yet we still cant figure out our own ppe supplies.
Quebec just funded millions to make their own ppe supplies.
We have been paying for storage in china for supplies are these storage facilities are just filled with air for a hefty price tag.
Seems we rely to much on other countries
And I have always said it as well Canada definitely needs to become more dependent on Canadians. Same with our oil we shouldn't be mining it to sent to the usa to send it back to Canada at a higher rate when the product is finished. We need to mine here refine here and seek our extra
More than half the crap you buy online are cheap knock offs from China.

Still going along at 500+ every 4 days .... while the left calls criticism of the incompetent (or complicit?) Theresa Tam racism... seems to be the fall back line lately "it's racism" ....

Well, I dare to say it's because anyone in Ontario wants to live in a 4000 sq ft home for doing anything ... you can't even get a plumber to show up to your house if it's not for at least $500. It's too expensive here ... that's the simple fact. But do you turn a blind eye to security of critical goods/supplies ... despite the price point? That's probably what's happening .... china can make us crap for 50% less cost (okay more than a few pennies) ... so we buy the crap from china.

And shop at Walmart and Costco so we can also help out the Americans! Not me.

It's easy to say that Canada must re-establish our manufacturing base which is 100% accurate,BUT,we must also be exceedingly cautious of foreign ownership and who controls those businesses, what they actually do and how they operate.

Are we as Canadians ready to pay a premium for Canadian made goods? I hear lots of people rant about Canadian manufacturing and we need to be more self sufficient but when it comes time to open the wallet we whistle a different tune. It seems that society is addicted to inexpensive, cheap products. I wonder if we have an appetite to wean ourselves from this habit?
When we buy large ticket items we try, whenever possible, to NOT buy from offshore manufacturers. For other smaller items there is little choice - clothes, shoes, electronics.
