Prime Minister Trudeau did not simply start talking about this tragedy and gun control legislation,he was asked a question by a reporter, actually several reporters about when the gun control legislation was being enacted.
Would it have been reasonable on national television to "ignore the reporters question", I do not think so as we need the media to question the government.

Was it the RIGHT QUESTION for a reporter to ask at this time, NO in my humble opinion.
He could of said we dont know that facts right now and ended it . Just like the many times he has ignored questions about this pandemic.

Then it just went on from there to bill and others to stir up the pot.

So we just had the worse mass shooting in Canadian history and the Prime Minister has been asked by a number of reporters about this incident, while he is doing his Daily Covid 19 update. The reporters question from what I remember of the interview was "when is the government bringing in the new gun control measures"your seem to think a reply would be we don't know the facts right now and ended it.

I suppose that could have sufficed if the question was about the actual shootings, but that was not the question, the question was about the
    promised gun control legislation.

    Update at todays press conference.

RCMP have confirmed that gunman did not have a firearms licence.

Ok Trudeamaniacs.....lets see this get spun into another crucifixion of law abiding gun owners.....

I've said so from the start. This not only did not fit the narrative, but looked like damage control on behalf of the RCMP.

SIRT is investigating approx 2 separate reported incidents. The death of Wortman, and another unspecified at this time. They are also having a difficult time with the sheer number of casualties, and scenes, and the glaring gap in timeline for warning issued out.

It's truly disheartening to think that the RCMP had an opportunity to use the Amber alert system and didn't........instead they chose to use Twitter? How many lives could of been saved?

A real failure by the RCMP unfortunately. Some lives could have been saved.

You do know Gilroy those morning Ted Baxter moments are choreographed by Katie Telford...The village idiot is given the 'lines' at around 9:00 and then rehearse them with his voice coach until he delivers it right.

Meanwhile Katie, the PMO strategist, deals with the media and finds out what questions are going to be asked or she suggest what she wants them to ask. They have learned long ago not to let Justine wander off script and wing it...remember that stumbling diatribe (see below) when he was caught off guard on a question that Katie failed to brief him on.

Katy, being VERY good at her job saw this tragedy as a way to use public sentiment to gain support for the bill. So of course she wanted the question asked and Justine was briefed on his reply long before he wandered up to the podium. That's Katie's job.

He was briefed on the initial question (first minute)..and then the reporter slipped one in he was not briefed on ...the True Trudeau.

There have been plenty of people with firearms licenses run afoul of the law and plenty of people without firearms licenses run afoul of the law, what exactly is you point?

I guess the next thing you will be telling us is that the Conservative leader does not have a strategist that deals with the media. LOL next.

We are in the beginning and Canada making history we are in a pandemic so much so these folks cant even have a proper funeral .

Unfortunately yes our government promised it but now is not the time and especially when the ban would of probably had no effect on what happened just like the danforth shooting they keep replying back to . He had a stolen gun that he obtained illegally and had rounds for a ak 47 .

I was reading one article that one of the groups written letters to mr Blair ,was going to be about the all the ammo and guns people were stocking up on, until this happened. Then it's all about ban the guns again because we had a bad day . Other mass shootings will continue ban or no ban. One day there will be a another loonie head going on a rampage. As it may turn out in this case a ban would of had zero effect.

But now is not the time when a full house wont be present and they are dealing with the crisis we are in now. If it is rushed it will get sloppy. Canada the world is making history China praised for their fast acting response when they locked them up in apartments. We are making history loved ones are dying alone the economy has fallen to unprecedented times..

The turd still has another 3 years to ban them no need to rush it.

Would the ban of stopped the tech 9 that was found in a drug bust near my house? Well 30 km away lol. Out in the boonies they are our neighbors 30 km away [emoji39]

    Simple Gilroy.

Our already stringent controls and checks in place did not prevent this; any more than arbitrarily giving powers to Municipalities to "ban" certain types of firearms.

It was used as an immediate talking point while things were still fluid, then the firearms angle went silent, because those who would choose to take advantage of this tragedy to push the gun control agenda realized that there was no angle on this.

It in fact lends itself to that which the gun lobby has been indicating all along. More legislation / confiscation, reclassification, doesn't prevent those that would choose to do harm.
