Just when you think things couldn't get any worse for the RCMP and how they handled the whole Rampage, we learn of even more puzzling decisions that were made by them.

For whatever reason, there are more informative news reports from foreign papers.

At least 22 people were shot or burned to death in fires set by the suspect. Witnesses have told local media that Wortman lit homes on fire and shot residents as they escaped the flames.

It looks like Reuters and the BBC are all over it,too. They're not being too circumspect like our media mutts are. This is going to be embarrassing. Wait until all the victims families find out how their relatives lives possibly could have been saved if the Police hadn't sat on the info. That's likely why the Prime Minister seemed to be so vague with the usual platitudes and rhetoric with the media this morning at his daily newser. I'll bet he knows there's a shyte storm coming.

Nothing has really changed since the tragic events in Nova Scotia. Trudeau promised tighter gun laws, campaigned on them, won the election and was in the process of implementing them. COVID-19 slowed the process along with a variety of other legislative initiatives unrelated to the pandemic.

COVID-19 was not, despite the wistful dreams of some gun owners, going to result in the government giving up their proposed ban on military-style semi- automatic rifles. All that last Sunday did was speed up the timetable.

Maybe it is just me , but I am getting the impression that many on here are anti police, especially the RCMP. Why? I always thought that those that voted conservative, were FOR the police, anti criminal, more jail time, mandatory sentencing, etc.

You're certainly right about Conservatives being for rock-solid justice, but, they're also for freedom, liberty, honor and societal common decency. Once the RCMP hitched their wagon to the left wing Liberal Party mandarins, all bet's were off.

The RCMP lost it way when they became the Governments lap dog. They lost the respect of many with policing driven by their political overseers. (ie failing to remove First Nation blockades, investigate SNC-Lavalin affair, etc etc.)

I remember back when the earned their reputation and respect....they squandered that in the eyes on many.

If it was a bill that is truly accepted as being for the safety of Canadians....the Liberals would have tabled it long ago (as a majority) and received royal ascent. However Liberals didn't, especially after SNC, as they we afraid to lose votes/seats in the upcoming election. It became a political 'hot potato' for them....and how many votes it would garner vs how many they would lose.

With this tragedy they are counting on more backing. Despicable.
