First turkey hunt
94604680_167007177959319_7966681511036452864_n.jpgWhat a rush! This is my first year hunting turkeys and I was able to put the hammer down on my first turkey. I was sitting in my "new blind" that I dug out of an exiting pile of wood, it was about 7:30 in the morning. Two females came in front of me, one was within range and calling. Shortly after I noticed a tom about 80 yards on the left with more hens. They actually started all walking away from me. Out of no where this other male busted out infront of me at about 50 yards. The two males faced each other, not long after the one male was pushing the other away as they were circling in front of me, getting closer (very intense). I lost sight of them on my right and I thought that maybe I wouldn't see them again if they went into the forest. On the corner on my right eye I saw one coming up and really close!!!! I barely had time to think, I slid up my shotgun and took the shot. Feathers flew, a hit. I watched him go lay down and expire. He his now in my freezer and I can't wait to head out again!
I'm also looking for recommendations on where I can get a fan mount done and/or where I can find a plaque (Ottawa region). Thanks

Nice bird, doing a mount your self is fairly easy. Have you removed the fan already. If so pin it open on some wood or cardboard and use borax or salt on the flesh part. After its dry then you can figure out what your going to mount it on. Lots of ideas on line or if you know someone that works with wood they could make you a plaque

Congratulations on your success
Like the others have said, fan mount are one of the easiest things to do.... All you need is some salt, cardboard and pins..... very easy.... Youtube has a lot of videos.... If I was closer, I would show you how.....Just make sure to remember that the way you leave it pinned, is the way it will stay once it is dry.... So do a nice job pinning (laying it out) and it will look great...
Best of luck and congrats again.
