Attachment 40169
Harper tried to push mandatory minimums for illegal gun carrying and gun crimes. Was met with so much opposition by the Liberals that it eventually just fell apart. I have some friends in the police force, including some tactical squads that target repeat parole violators and domestic terrorism. Just speaking with them for 5 minutes would turn your stomach when you hear the kind of depraved lunacy they confront daily. Many of the heroic acts never make the news. Bombings thwarted, etc. Guys who have already been deported 2 or 3 times opening fire on police. Kids as young as 15 attacking police and wrestling them for their guns. Having to explain to parents of horribly victimized children that while the bad guys aren't getting locked up for 10 years, they are getting a month of community service!
They wire tapped some gang leaders in the GTA area a little while ago talking about how easy it is to carry on their daylight shootings now. They act with complete impunity. The police can no longer practice pro active policing (this includes carding) and now just respond to calls, if at all.
Illegal guns and gang activity, mental health and fatherless homes are the real problems that the politicians need to address. Look at the stats. The sad irony of most Liberal policies is that they end up hurting the very communities they purport to help. And this creates a vicious cycle of collectivism and dependance on big gov. But I guess that's one way to secure your votes.
So they just exploit tragedies to push their twisted anti-western, anti-male, anti-family, anti-personal responsibility and anti-freedom agenda. Creating a false narrative of legal and law abiding gun owners being the real threat to our society...while continuing to leech ever increasing tax dollars from them.

I had forgotten about this;
A report by Canada’s firearm regulator shows there are “no reasons why” the country’s 2.2 million men and women with a gun license shouldn’t have firearms, suggesting the prime minister’s plans for mass confiscations are unjustified.
“All applicants are screened to ensure that there are no reasons why, in the interest of public safety, they should not possess a firearm,” the Ottawa-based Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in its 2018 Commissioner of Firearms report

This thread is going to die a long and painful death. We have heard all the facts and there is no way to get everyone on the same page regarding politics, or gun control for that matter.
Discussing these matters on a forum with so many people with different geopolitical viewpoints is like trying to work at a team to complete a task and there is that one person that no matter how hard they try they still cannot understand the project or grasp the big picture. Maybe they just do not care enough, or maybe it is their limited cognitive ability that is their limiting factor. Either way you still need to complete the task as a team.

Or as we have seen time and again, attention seeking posters who go out of their way to be contrary for the sake of getting a giggle by stirring the pot.

TheGunBlog.ca — A report by Canada’s firearm regulator shows there are “no reasons why” the country’s 2.2 million men and women with a gun licence shouldn’t have firearms, suggesting the prime minister’s plans for mass confiscations are unjustified.
“All applicants are screened to ensure that there are no reasons why, in the interest of public safety, they should not possess a firearm,” the Ottawa-based Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in its 2018 Commissioner of Firearms report, published online yesterday.
Nothing in the above first paragraph is written by the regulator and last two sentences taken out of context. So then we are left to assume more fake news by the pro assault rifle crown. The said GunBlog citing some 100,000 gun owners are upset at the ban with 30,000 of them being opposed with unverified e mail address's.So about 70,000 upset.
So that leaves 2.1 million gun owners that really do not care, I guess.
