    She has my mine.

I’d pay good money to be there when she uses reason, logic and stats in any debate with a Liberal

She's well educated, holds multiple degrees, has had a real job, is articulate...already way more than our present PM has

Because of all those reasons she would be a great leader, but she won't get that position in the conservative party.

Time will tell G. Most people aren't "stupid". They can make mistakes, they can misjudge things. Like Scheers inability to make inroads to the GTA. One primary reason he didn't, is because women feared him. Feared he would table the abortion wedge, as well as set back women's hard fought gains. Who has JT pandered to?

They aren't dumb, no political strategist is. Thats why all parties use them. The only reason, or most likely reason Ford narrowly beat Christine Elliot is because he'd had a base in the GTA she didn't. And the fact, the Conservative party leader election system uses a weighting metric. This region/seat is worth 1.25, that region/seat 1.0. Christine Elliot won the popular vote, Ford only won due to the weightings they use. So much for your reasoning....

If the FED Cons hope to make inroads to the GTA. Hmmmmm Erin O'toole or her...And don't be so naive as to think they don't know that. Thats why they sacked Scheer in the first place.

One day, you will learn that in order to understand why they often do this or that, is that you need to start thinking like a politician....If I take this road, how many seats will it cost me with this demographic, how many will it gain with that demographic.

I have read all your comments JB and after reading Sam,s link to the CBC article I have to say I was coming around to the point of view expressed here,I am on record saying that the OIC were wrong,I have said it before on previous orders and I have said the RCMP have no business making the laws.So I believe all this should be run through Parliament and a proper vote taken.

But let me ask you a couple of simple questions.

    (1) When the Conservatives decided that the long gun registry was a good wedge issue and divide the electorate, they calculated they had the numbers on their side?

Now that the Liberals have played the same game and believe they have numbers on their side,is it not a little hypocritical to call them out on it,I mean the politicians are playing ping pong ball with all of us.

    (2) Who's job is it to EDUCATE the public and explain to them the working's of semi auto guns?

There is a solution here for all of us I have mentioned before and you guys also mention but do not articulate very well.

This is a URBAN CRIME and RURAL DIVIDE issue, you need a Conservative leader able to articulate this and PROVIDE THE PUBLIC with concrete solutions they will enforce.

Part of the problem I see right now for Conservatives is their terrible lack of leadership and a candidate people can get behind.

There is a mistrust by the electorate with the Conservatives on several fronts they have not managed to address, immigration, oil pipelines,
aboriginal rights,abortion,........so the Liberals exploit your weakness and lack of clarity on these issues.

Personally I have a much simpler list of questions to ask a new government none of which are gun related.

    (1) How come most Canadian kid's cannot find job's that will allow them to feel secure in their future.(pensions, health coverage)?
    (2) How come most Canadian kid's cannot afford a home of their own?
(3)How come we need two parents working full time to raise their children.
(4)How come it takes two weeks out of those parents wages to afford day care.

None of this stuff get's addressed by successive governments.

P.S. I was writing this post while you were writing yours above,so my thoughts were not influenced by your post above.

Chrystia Freeland : Freeland was born in Peace River, Alberta.[22][23]

Freeland attended Old Scona Academic High School in Edmonton, Alberta[24] for two years before attending the United World College of the Adriatic in Italy, on a merit scholarship from the Alberta government for a project that sought to promote international peace and understanding.[25] She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian history and literature from Harvard University and a Master of Studies degree in Slavonic Studies from St Antony's College, Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar in 1993.[4][26]

Plain and simple the government is using a fear mongering or scaremongering tactics. I thought it was illegal but I guess maybe it's not a law lol. I did think it was illegal to put fear into someone by telling them exaggerated stories an putting fear into their head. Kinda like mental abuse I thought.

***Fearmongering or scaremongering is the spreading of frightening and exaggerated rumors of an impending danger to purposely arouse fearin order to manipulate the public.[1][2][3]*****

Sounds like our current government. Scare the public into believing they are the most dangerous problems we have.

Just another bunch exaggerated rumors and false lies to have it their way.

Registry. For the most yes. They calculated or gambled if you will enough of the "middle" had bought in. That it was costing a boatload for little gain. They know, regardless of the topic the "Antis" and "Gun nuts" aren't budging.... Unlike then...there are today, big issues with alienation of the West and Covid, and...

Firearms: Wouldn't that depend on who/what.
    Want to be hunter: Ours
Unfamiliar public: Well lets see Gilroy. Who jobs is it to inform and educate the unknowlegable public on Pandemics? The politicians and Health officials? Firearms issues/public safety? Would that be the two PP ( Politicians and Police?)

    Urban/Rural or East/West divides:
Right back at you. An electorate is needed that becomes aware of the issues...Do I need to say more?

    1) Various reasons. One, being those things are expensive.Very. Which way are companies moving? Out of here and away from those things? Answer, not the way we want.... Why are the feds going billions in debt to try and keep some afloat today...Thin profit margins?

    2) Not sure's that answerable. At its simplest supply and demand. If we look at the GTA, nowhere near enough supply for demand. Why do 70% of immigrant go to the GTA. Including your kids from small town Canada?

    3) Go back to the 60s. Coles note...stagnant wages AND increased taxation

    4) See #3. Statistically proven time and time and time again. you don't want to listen. Its both! Worded simply, when the "peons" wages aren't keeping pace, and our governments adding tax after tax after tax like the HST, Carbon Taxes, hike sin taxes, etc, etc.

There should be a “test” you need to pass before being allowed to cast a ballot. Voters mostly vote for the leader and don’t know who their riding candidate is or how he/she votes in the house. Trudough senior was right, MP’s are nobodys a mile from parliament. The PMO rules and most in it aren’t elected.
