All this money they are about to spend on court challenges is just crazy,do they not think that the Judges at the Supreme Court level and Constitutional lawyers were not consulted on these matters.I have just read all the last 3 or 4 SCC decisions on appeals from gun owners and Alberta, its all going to be a waste of their money.
I believe the Deputy Prime Minister will give her a good run for her money and yours.
I have to admit that I'm some impressed with Chrystia Freeland. Unfortunately, she's been virtually alone which speaks volumes of her capabilities. Her navigation of the Foreign Affairs portfolio,an absolute minefield, has been nothing short of amazing. No matter how good she is,though, she can't do it alone. She has nothing but idiots around her. I'm sure government hacks have consulted with constitutional lawyers and have considered varying opinions on how the OIC was constructed. I'm also certain that they told the government that it's use wasn't justifiable at the time. That's why they sat on it so long. Then, along came Nova Scotia which presented what they thought was an ideal justification to launch the OIC. The optics afterward is a catastrophic PR failure and to add to it,someone screwed up advising on the 20mm rule in the OIC which set off a firestorm making everything 10X's worse in the short term, but, the damage is done. I'll agree with you that this AR ban could have been a giant shoulder shrug from the average hunter and farmer, but, when that hit,it changed everyone's entire outlook and with it,the entire dynamic.
Having said that,I don't believe the law suit is a waste. Anything can happen in the SCC because precedent has yet to be set regarding firearms except for their ruling against the provinces when the Liberals enacted the long gun registry. The whole issue is wide open and with grueling public pressure now being brought to bear against the sitting government,I think the SCC will read the political tea leaves and tread very carefully. That,in and of itself, should give the Liberal Party great pause.

The west may or may not for her as leader ( debatable). How many friends do you have in West Gilroy? Honest question not snide. I have a number, reading the comments in their post are “telling”. Not only in tone, but just the sheer number of responses. Kind of like this thread is 78 pages.....They hate us, specifically Que and the GTA. They also know, the cons need to break the idiocy of Red Toronto. So some party members especially female ones might back her as leader...
They certainly will vote Con, in the next election no matter who the leader is, m in a block unless something huge changes in the next year. Who else will they vote for? The NDP? They are almost as POd at BC and Horgan and most of them speak of Notley as we do Wynne....
And now, on top of everything else, JT (and red Toronto) want their guns.......

I shared this last night. No doubt, gun owners are reading it....and I put the blame where it belongs...
Fact.
20+ years howling for bans. All illegal. Only 1 from Canada.
This is on the electorate. 20+ years that could have, should have been spent tackling the growing problem. Sleep on that.

I bet few...they’ve already moved on.

Even though I don’t read the Sun ( it’s a rag, kind of like certain groups) I shared this morning. With the same message.
A spade is a spade.
They’ve wasted 20+ years.......

That fact that the RCMP refuse (obviously due to political interference) is very telling...
I guess the public knowing what guns were used won't support the premise of the 'Gun Ban' agenda.
The RCMP says that three of the four semi-automatic weapons used by a gunman during last month's mass shooting in Nova Scotia are believed to have come from the United States, but the agency continues to withhold some key details.
A news release issued Monday doesn't give the model or calibre of two rifles and two handguns that the gunman had when he started the rampage in Portapique, a small community west of Truro.
The investigators said in the release one semi-automatic weapon was obtained by the killer in Canada, but they didn't specify whether it was a rifle or a handgun.
