Canadian Military to get new Sniper Rifle; C20 & C21
Canadian military to get new sniper rifles (x272) as Colt C20 replaces C8
The C20 will replace the C8 as the personal defence weapon for Canadian Forces sniper teams, confirmed Department of National Defence spokeswoman Andrée-Anne Poulin.
The government will also launch a competition sometime this month to buy 229 bolt action sniper rifles. That rifle, designated as the C21, will be used for long-range shooting and will come in two different calibres.
The Canadian Forces says the new C20, which will be in 7.62 calibre, will be more accurate and an improvement over the current C8 used by sniper teams.

I thought most of the free world used 5.56? Any particular reason we decided to “not” be able to share/use every other allie’s ammo stores?

Sniper Rifles are usual chosen for their accuracy over NATO supply line considerations. However, the 7.62 (.308) is a proven great long distant round....and happens to be a NATO round..so all is good.
However, the M14 and many other firearms that use the 7.62×51mm NATO round remain in service, especially in the case of various marksman/sniper rifles, medium machine guns/general-purpose machine guns such as the M240, and various rifles in use by special operations forces.

Nice. Looks very accurate. When can we see them on store shelves?
Would love one.

A bad title.
These are not sniper rifles.
They are sniper protection rifles.

Has too much time on their hands
So an 11+ pound rifle with scope and ammo, no thanks. Sounds like an accurate rifle but I wouldn't want to be carrying it for to very long
