NB's 1st Turkey Hunt cancelled
Sucks for sure...
COVID-19 has put New Brunswick's first-ever wild turkey hunt on hold for a year.
The turkey hunt was supposed to start this week — with opening day Monday. But the two week season ended up being pushed back until May 2021.
"As a result of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the mandatory State of Emergency Order, it will not be possible to introduce a wild turkey hunt in 2020," said Natural Resources spokesperson Kelly Cormier in an emailed statement to CBC News on Wednesday.

That's just nonsense. Hunting for turkeys in Ontario has been my only reprieve.
If you hunt on private and maintain your distancing (hunt alone or with someone from your household) there is absolutely no concerns. Ridiculous

What about mandatory check in stations? Are you aware of how this hunt was being setup?
Remember how long in Ontario we had in person check stations for turkeys?

It is the first year, I do not but that would be a pretty good reason not to have it.

When I started turkey hunting in 2006 when we harvested a turkey we needed to show up at a check in station with your bird and they would record the birds weight, length of spurs and length of the beard and where it was harvested from. It was a bit of a pain but it was a great to go there with a nice big bird and show it off.
